Most of the time manufacturers skip the little low end phones and concentrate on the flagship devices and offer them the latest software updates ,so these low end devices live run on their out of the box software for the rest of their lives .Although this is a common business practice among manufacturers to discard their old devices and make customers buy a newer phone , Sony in a attempt to gain the hearts and minds of customers has quietly started to dish out Android 4.1 to their low end Xperia J handset . The update to 4.1 was discovered by various customers worldwide ,but Sony has not released any form of statement about the update yet .The update requires a download of 392MB and you need to have atleast 50% of your phone's battery to download it ,the firmware number of the update is 11.2.A.0.21 with the kernel 3.4 , and just like the standard 4.1 update you do get the google goodies such as Google now ,project Butter and various bug fixes ...so if you have a Xperia J , connect it to your PC and fire up the companion software and do a quick manual check for the update .
