It looks like the Nokia Lumia series will be going out with a bang after all. The Finnish company’s mobile division was recently acquired by Microsoft in a multi-billion dollar deal, and with Steve Ballmer hinting that the Lumia brand will be retired, Nokia’s next few devices may be the last of the iconic series. Before that day comes, however, the company may release at least one more smartphone, and it looks like it will be the biggest Windows Phone 8 device we’ve ever seen.
Rumors that Nokia had been developing the Lumia 1520, a 6-inch 1080p Windows Phone, have been floating around for a while, with multiple reports suggesting the company was simply waiting on Microsoft to release a WP8 update that could support its phablet-sized display and processor. Today, the Verge received a fresh batch of photos and specs for the upcoming device courtesy of one of the site’s readers, allegedly confirming the device.
The Lumia 1520 will reportedly come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a microSD slot. The phablet also sports a massive rear camera, though apparently not quite as big as the 1020′s 41-megapixel shooter. In case you were wondering, the Sony smartphone sitting next to the Lumia 1520 is the new 5-inch Xperia Z1, just to give you an idea of how big Nokia’s new device will really be.
