Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Samsung has officially announced their latest flagship smartphone , the Note 8 , the device , launched after the disastrous Note 7 hopes to please new users as well as those who are loyal to the Note lineup , even though that relationship may have been dodgy due to the battery related recall . The phone brings familiar cues from the S8 , a new square design and dual camera set up , all in a expensive and luxurious chassis .

Samsung's design for the Note 8 is heavily influenced by the S8 launched earlier this year, the new Note , like its two previous predecessors , features a metal chassis and curved gorilla glass on both the front and back . The phone still features the traditional fingerprint sensor at the back - a la S8 , and it now features a dual camera set up in linear fashion . There is still that somewhat (questionable) Bixby smart assistant button on the side  and  overall the phone is basically a larger and a more squarer S8 , but with better hardware and a IP68 water and dust resistance rating on both the Phone and the stylus (no worries about getting your S-Pen wet now) . And the phone still retains the headphone jack .

Designed around the curved display technology from the S8 , the phone features a larger 6.3" SAMOLED panel with a 2660x1440 resolution which gives 521ppi . The display also hides a haptic feedback motor at the bottom which provide feedback when touched upon (only on the home button). There is space for a speaker grille , front camera and the iris and ambient sensors in the rather small top bezel .

Processing power for the Note 8 varies according to region , the U.S , China and some European countries may receive the Octa core  Snapdragon 835 Soc clocked to 2.35Ghz max and features 6GB of RAM and comes with 64/128/256GB storage options with MicroSD expandability if you don't mind sacrificing one of the dual nano sim slots for it .

Most Asian markets , and other regions (Middle East , S. America , Africa ) will receive the Samsung Exynos 8895 Octa core chip but the rest of the specs will remain the same.

Fingerprint sensor for the phone is located right next to the camera assembly on the rear - similar to the S8

Camera tech on the phone is probably a first for Samsung as this phone features dual camera technology ( a current trend for 2017) . The dual 12MP sensors may contain the same resolution , phase detection AF , but they vary as follows .
1st sensor -  12MP  1/2.55" sensor 1.4 micrometer pixel size , OIS (optical image stability) , F1.7 aperture ,26mm (35mm eqv)
2nd sensor - 12MP  1/3.6" sensor 1 micrometer pixel size ,OIS , F2.4 aperture ,52mm (35mm eqv)

HDR , 4K recording with simultaneous 9MP photo shooting is possible , the 4K frame rates are maxed out at 30fps , but you can shoot 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 240fps .

The front camera features a 8MP resolution with a 1/3.6" sensor size , 1.22 Micrometer pixel size and 2k video recording .

Battery tech is probably a cause for concern for many potential buyers , but Samsung has now set up a 5 phase test program to test out batteries to prevent another incident , the battery features quick charge 3.0 from USB  C 3.0 and inductive wireless charging as well . The cell is a non removable 3300 mAh .

The Note 8 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat (Oreo will be available soon) . The Grace UX features typical Samsung features and also has the ability to have multiple smart assistants on top of Samsung's own Bixby which still occupies the left side hardware button .The OS features S-Pen applets including direct note taking once the stylus is pulled out and smart gif's . The

Don't expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to be cheap , the phone , which costs almost $1000 is probably going to burn a hole in your wallet if you want one . Obviously the phone does feature some nice spec's but considering that the S8 plus can be bought for about $300 less , its really hard to justify it . But considering that the phone will be on contract , it will sell quite well in areas with that facility(available on All U.S carriers) .
