Android " Key Lime Pie" to use Linux 3.8 Kernel ?

With the 2013 Google I/O event closing in fast , the rumors for the next version of android is starting to rise , Although we are no sure whether Google will call it Android 4.3 or 5.0 we are very certain that it is going to be under the delicious codename "Key Lime Pie " . A website called Phoronix speculates that it may be too early to release a Key Lime Pie OS based on Linux 3.8 given that Android 5.0 is expected to be unveiled in less than three months from now at Google's I/O event ,but while “the work is labeled as ‘experimental,’” it seems “to be evolving fast,” which sounds interesting, although we have no way of confirming what Key Lime Pie will be based on at this time. Jelly Bean is based on Linux 3.0 kernel, with Google also maintaining other versions including 3.3 and 3.4, with Android 4.2.2  for Nexus 4 based on the latter. The same source details some of the improvements in Linux 3.8 kernel (see second Source link below) including “Samsung Exynos DRM a

Huawei G710 rumored

We’ve seen Huawei introduced several new devices at MWC 2013, but it seems the phone maker has forgotten to take the Ascend G710 to the big event. Thanks to the eagle eye of @evleaks, we have some information of the device’s innards, picture included. The Huawei Ascend G710 is expected to ship with a 5-inch screen. While 1080p phones are all the rage now, that won’t be the case with the G710, as it’ll only boast a 720p display. Perhaps this is a good thing, as Huawei already has a 5-inch full HD phone in the flagship Ascend D2. The leak also mentions that the Ascend G710 will pack a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and that it’ll work on both GSM and CDMA networks. We’re not sure if the latter implies that it’ll be a dual SIM phone. Design-wise, the phone has a pretty swish-looking metal back cover, potentially putting it in similar territory to the Ascend D2.

HTC One to sell as TD 101 at China Mobile

HTC decided to invest in such a brand by launching the One series of smartphones last year, although the company was not able to impose its own product names to certain carriers. Then, just a few days ago, the company launched the HTC One, which is going to be the company’s only One-branded handset this year, a make-or-break kind of project for the Taiwanese Android maker that’s still having a tough time fighting against the competition, especially Samsung. We were under the impression that HTC will further invest in its One brand and not budge to carrier demands anymore when it comes to changing the name of the product – in the U.S., AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are going to sell it as the HTC One. But it looks like things aren’t necessarily so, and no, it’s not Verizon that’s going to get its way selling the One as the Droid DNA Plus, as it was recently rumored. We’re looking at China Mobile this time around, which has announced the HTC One as the HTC TD 101. That’s certa

Sony to set Xperia E on Fire...fox

Sony announced Wednesday afternoon on the Sony Mobile Developer Blog that owners of the Xperia E will get a chance to test out an experimental build of Firefox OS via a downloadable ROM. The company has also warned that the process is for advanced developers and it should not be tried by a consumer without developer skills. Keep in mind that this ROM is labeled as experimental and will by no means serve as a daily driver. This means that there is a lack of cellular data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth due to a lack of radio connectivity. Sony has also warned that the SD card might be unstable and that touch sensitivity has not been fully calibrated. If you’re still wanting to bite the bullet and take the early build of Firefox OS for a test run, be sure to head on over here where Sony has written up a helpful guide for developers wanting to flash the ROM via Sony’s flash tool, which will also allow you to easily revert back to Android. If you’re not wanting to unlock the Xperia E’s bootloa

Freescale introduces world's smallest micro-controller

If you're looking for an exceedingly tiny ARM-based microcontroller, Freescale says it's just cooked up the world's smallest. Dubbed the Kinetis KL02, the piece of kit is 25 precent smaller than the previous record-holder and measures up at a 1.9 x 2.00 x 0.56 millimeters. Having trouble visualizing exactly how small that is? Just take a gander at the photo above. A 48 MHz ARM Cortex-M0+ processor has made it onto the wafer-level chip-scale package and it's paired with 32KB of flash memory and 4KB of RAM. The outfit reckons it'll be a good match for 'internet of things' devices that are tight on space, and says it beats its older L Series kin in power efficiency. Manufacturer sampling for the KL02 is slated for March, while wide availability is penciled in for July, and it'll set buyers back 75 cents a piece when purchased in 100,000-unit loads.

Dell Latitude 10 Enhanced security

Dell‘s Latitude 10 was originally launched back in October 2012. A few months later, we saw the Essentials configuration pop up at CES 2013, with Dell aiming the device at schools and small businesses. Now the company has unveiled a new iteration of the tablet, this one aimed at the government, law enforcement, and banks – the Latitude 10 Enhanced Security. Dell boasts that the enhanced security version of the Latitude 10 offers more features than any other competing tablet available. The entire tablet line is said to be 94-percent cheaper and 17 times faster than using the iPad, in terms of launching an enterprise-wide implementation for the company’s employees. Over 50-percent of enterprises report having to invest in software above the cost of the tablet, something that isn’t an issue with the enhanced security version of the Latitude 10. According to the announcement, the Latitude 10 Enhanced Security tablet is designed to be easily added into an already-existing IT environment

Adobe Photoshop Touch now available for Smartphones for $4.99

Since the launch of Photoshop Touch for tablets , most smartphone users were usually filled with green envy over the nearly -pc like functionality of the application , There was however a basic editing  app called Photoshop Express  previously for smartphones -this  had nothing more than some basic color correction so don't confuse the two .. The tablet app had many bells and whistles , but the app was only limited to Tablets above 7" .But now ,possibly with the advent of large -screen phones , Adobe has launched a Smartphone version of the Photoshop Touch app for $4.99 , unlike the tablet edition ,where controls are placed far apart , the smartphone app uses all of the screen space giving better control because the application still has to be controlled by fingers (Stylus if you use a Galaxy Note ) .The pro design software outfit added Photoshop Touch for phones that wields "core" Photoshop capabilities, Scribble Selection and supports those high-res snapshots.

The games in question are as follows: Burn Zombie Burn from Tick Tock Games Carie: Blood Mansion and RPG CODEX: The Warrior from NeoWiz Nutgee’s RU Golf Dead on Arrival 2 from N3V Games. Dead on Arrival 2 in particular is interesting for its use of high-resolution models and PhysX. In the meantime, feast your eyes on

MWC 2013 - LG Pocket Photo

The LG Pocket Photo is a pocketable printing machine that’ll print out tiny 2 by 3-inch photos created with a special process that uses no ink – like magic! The coolest bit about this printer may be the way you connect with it – all you need to do is tap your NFC-laden smartphone to the printer (with the apropriate app open, of course), and your photo will print in right around 30 seconds. The LG Pocket Photo is 4.76 x 2.83 x 0.94 inches in size and will be taking some little packets of photo paper , which has to be purchased specifically for this device ...It’s not entirely clear at the moment if you’ll need to be using an LG smartphone or not with this device at the moment, and you are able to work with Bluetooth as well as NFC, but one thing is for sure: you will need the Pocket Photo app. Which doesn’t do anything for you if you’ve not got the printer, of course. The app is also able to do some basic photo editing and generate QR codes that you’ll subsequently be able to print a

MWC 2013 - Intel CloverTrail +

The new platform has officially launched at Mobile World Congress 2013 and will be featured in a range of new products, ecosystems, and other platforms including Android tablets. The new platform promises significantly improved power consumption among other features. The new platform is for smartphones and Android tablets and will be the company’s first multimode-multiband LTE solution shipping in the first half of 2013. Intel says that the new platform and smartphone reference design delivers industry-leading performance combined with low-power consumption and a long battery life. Intel says that the new platform is able to rival today’s most popular Android phones. The platform uses a 32nm dual core Atom Processor in one of three varieties. Those three processors include the Z2580, Z2560, and Z2520 operating at speeds up to 2 GHz, 1.6 GHz, and 1.2 GHz resp

Samsung pulls plug on Bada

Samsung is giving up on the Bada OS but instead of sweeping its remains under the carpet, the Korean manufacturer will integrate its Bada OS into the Tizen OS project. This is first-hand information comeing from Hong Won-pyo, President of Samsung's Media Solutions Center. Though smartphones running Bada won't be able to upgrade to Tizen when it's ready, the latter will be backwards compatible with Bada apps, which is good news for every new OS with a low profile app catalog. Following Nokia's decision not to support MeeGo, the Tizen OS emerged as the open source project to realize all that exciting potential. Samsung are clearly hoping to use the platform in a bid to set themselves apart from the Android and Windows Phone crowd. (via GSMArena)

MWC 2013 - Asus Padfone Infinity

You may have heard a new PadFone was on the way -- it's not like ASUS has been dropping obvious hints or anything. In any case, surprise! ASUS just unveiled a new model, the PadFone Infinity. What's more, the phone's gotten an upgrade on the inside: it now packs a quad-core, 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 chip with an Adreno 320 GPU, some of the freshest components Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. Alien Slime appears after meteor strike .....and its "living"

Here’s your daily dose of crazy. A strange, gooey substance has been appearing all over the Somerset nature reserve that’s about a thousand miles away from Russia. The mysterious substances have been showing up ever since the meteor event in Russia a few days ago. Both the tourists of the reserve, as well as the workers there, have described the slimes resembling “something living”. The strange, alien slimes are appearing all over the Somerset nature reserve in grass banks that are located away from the water’s edge. The slimey substances are each about 10 centimeters (4 inches) in diameter and all of them are translucent. The reserve’s team will continue to analyze the blobs for the next few days. The local folklore says that previous sightings of the mysterious, alien slime dates all the way back to the 14th century, at least based on their records. Back in the 14th century, the strange slime always appeared shortly after a meteor shower. The locals at the time called the slim

Near Earth Asteroid will pass earth at 21,000 miles today

A near-Earth asteroid – called 2012 DA14 by astronomers – will pass very close to Earth on February 15 (today) , 2013. Astronomers estimate that, when it’s closest to us, it’ll be within the orbit of the moon (which averages about a quarter million miles away), and closer than some high-orbiting communications satellites. 2012 DA14 will be about 17,200 miles (27,680 kilometers) away. It will not strike Earth in 2013. Astronomers’ calculations of asteroid orbits can be trusted. After all, even decades ago, they knew enough about calculating orbits to send people to the moon and bring them safely back, and today we are able place our space vehicles in orbit around objects as small as asteroids. Who will see the February 15 asteroid flyby? The asteroid won’t be visible to the eye, but you can watch the February 15 asteroid flyby online, in real-time. So, no, 2012 DA14 won’t strike us in 2013. There was a remote possibility it might strike us in 2020, but that possibility has been

Large Hadron Collider completes its 3 year cycle ....its nap time

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) completed its first three-year running cycle at 7:24am today, when its crew removed its beams and entered it into its first long shutdown period. Called LS1 (Long Shutdown 1), the LHC will undergo maintenance and consolidation work, enabling it to run at a higher energy when it is fired back up in 2015. The maintenance and consolidation work will be performed to the LHC itself, but especially to its entire accelerator complex, which will have the magnet interconnections rebuilt to run at energy level 7TeV per beam. According to the announcement, the CERN complex will resume running in the middle of next year, ahead of the LHC’s scheduled restart in 2015. CERN’s Director General Rolf Heuer had this to say about the LHC’s long shutdown: “We have every reason to be very satisfied with the LHC’s first three years. The machine, the experiments, the computing facilities and all infrastructures behaved brilliantly, and we have a major scientific discovery

Curiosity rover discovers strange piece of metal on Mars

The Curiosity rover on Mars has been keeping itself quite busy lately, most recently boring into Mars’ red surface in order to find signs of life. However, in its downtime, the rover likes to take a lot of photos, including self-portraits , but this time around, Curiosity came across a strange chunk of metal sticking out of the ground? What could it be? The photo was snapped on January 30 using one of the rover’s MastCam cameras to get shots of the landscape, and it ended up getting this odd piece of metal in the frame. NASA’s scientists aren’t 100% sure what it is, but they think it may be a chunk from a meteorite, or possibly a chunk of ore that became exposed by some sort of erosion. It’s said that the object is only a half-centimeter tall, so it’s extremely tiny compared to how big it looks in the image. NASA hasn’t said whether or not it will check out the piece of metal, or if they’ll just ignore it and continue on with their planned experiments. After all, they do have mor

The world's first smartphone powered satellite in Space -'STRaND-1'
