Its here folks , say hello to the new HTC One M8 .The M8 ,launched today in two simultaneous events in London and New York was probably one of the most leaked smartphones of all time .Anyone who was into tech during the past two months would have seen the device leaked in the form of pictures, renders and even videos , but now the smartphone is official and it sure looks very pretty .
At a glance , the HTC One M8 looks a bit like a curved version of its predecessor , the HTC One , and this is true because most of the design elements have not changed , but instead they are better polished .Measuring in at 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35 mm and 160g, The new One M8's rear chassis
is now 90% metal , compared to the 70% of the old "One" . The metal in the new chassis now has a brushed steel look (Only the Gunmetal Grey version has this) and it certainly adds more primness to device . The One M8 comes in 3 color variants including the stock Gunmetal Gray , Glacial silver , and Amber Gold.
The rear also houses 2 camera lens slots and houses the rear dual-led flash .Two plastic strips on the top of the device provide a metal-free area for the phones antennas , so you won't have to worry about holding it right .As mentioned before , the One M8 has 2 camera lenses , although it looks like some reincarnation of the Evo 3D , the dual 4 ultrapixel cameras do not not feature 3D recording , but instead the system works to produce a photographic effect called bokkeh - where you can blur out the background behind your subject, this feature on the M8 is called Ufocus , and it can also give a 3D like effect by giving the background more depth via its second camera The Ufocus application allows the smartphone refocus after the shot and it can do this by establishing a lock-on to a selected focus point in 0.3 seconds flat!.however , unlike its competition , the One M8 does not shoot 4K videos , but it compensates by introducing 1080p HDR video recording to the unit. The front of the unit features a 5 Mp 1080p camera so you can still do some cool personal photos - AKA selfies with it .The front facing Boomsound speakers have been amped up and now it is said to produce 25% better sound quality than the previous generation.
Display wise, the HTC One M8 features a 5" 1920x1080p resolution screen with a pixel count of 441ppi , The display is said to use SLCD3 and it also uses Gorilla Glass 3 as its armour . The M8 is will feature the latest HTC Sense 6 overlay , which sits on top of Android 4.4.2 KitKat (There is also a Google Play edition of the smartphone coming soon , and version features stock Android without the Sense 6 UI but retains all the other features of the phone). Sense 6 is said to feature a new set of motion commands which includes a double tap to wake feature and another where the call automatically answers when you bring the device close to your ear. And just like the Sense 5 UI , the new version also uses the Blinkfeed media kiosk which can be accessed when swiped right from the homescreen . Apart from the eye candy , the HTC One M8 is said to pack some serious punch thanks to its 2.3Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB DDR3 Ram . Storage on the device comes in the form of 16,32 and 64GB versions and HTC has now included a SD card slot that can max out the internal storage by another 64GB .To power the phone , HTC has added a battery of 2600 mAh which is non user replaceable of course, which is said to give the phone about 15 hours of usage and 500 hours of standby time .The M8 features a nano -sim and it will LTE ready out of the box The device was available right after launch so there is no waiting list to fill in provided you live in the UK ,The phone is also available through Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint in the U.S, as for others , the device is said to be the device will be available internationally on the 10th of April for around $600+.
