Over the last two years , Google appointed ASUS to make the Nexus 7 tablet , The Google tablet
was priced cheaper than its competition and it had no direct competition when it was launched .The first
gen was a instant hit and it propelled Android into the limelight of the average consumer , who now for the first time saw that Nexus devices weren't only designed for nerds . The Nexus 7 launch also brought immediate competition -first from fellow Android makers and then from rivals like Apple ,Microsoft and Amazon. Last year , Google announced the 2013 Nexus 7 , unlike its first gen brother , this had essentials such as a camera etc , but it didn't become popular as the first one because the competition for the tablet world was very fierce when the device was actually launched . And with the rise of the
"Phablet" - which is basically a oversize phone for people who keep their phone inside a bag , made the 7" display size a little too small for the future , and thus , Google has gone back to the drawing board.
With the 7" tablet becoming a endangered species , rumor has it that Google is planning to dump the 7"
form factor and go for something in the range of 8.9" . And to do this , Google has reportedly hired their
old nexus partner - HTC .According to sources , The upcoming Nexus 8.9 tablet from HTC is quite a beast .The Taiwanese company is known all over for its luxury designs , premium build quality and good displays , so the prospect of a Nexus tablet from HTC has to excite almost all gadget fans . The Nexus 8.9 from HTC will pack a 2560x1600 resolution display at - you guessed it - 8.9" . The tablet will also pack some new horsepower under the hood as well . The price for this rumored beast is said to be $299 , which is a tad more than the previous device , but it is a whole lot cheaper than the current $400 Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.4 and the $400 iPad Mini . The device is said to be in full production in the month of July and will ship with -possibly the next version of Android in somewhere between September and November of this year .
