When McLaren introduced the MP4-12C , the car was generally thought as a "affordable" alternative to the world of 458's and many versions of the Gallardo . The company was generally known to undercut their rivals in the price segment but as time went on the pirce tag went even higher , and now after launching many models such as the $2 million P1 , the expensive 650S and the somewhat expensive 12C spyder, McLaren has decided to go back to the 12C's roots and introduce a "Baby McLaren" for about $160,000 . The car is known as the McLaren P13 and this is said to be their full time production "cash cow" for the company .The car is said to have design influences from the P1 and the 650S , it is also said to come in a coupe and a convertible version and according to McLaren's communications chief - Wayne Bruce the car will cost "from around two thirds of what a 12C would cost you today." - which is around the above mentioned price of 160K . The car is said to have the same 3.8L Twin Turbo V8 of the 12C and is said to produce about 500Bhp. The P13 will also have a 7Speed Dual clutch transmission jointly developed by Ricardo and McLaren so it is kind of like a MP4-12C revised edition .With McLaren hopig to launch a new car every year ,this model is said to be ready by 2015 ,which is only one year behind the launch of the future flagship-McLaren P15. With the P13 and P15 confirmed for launch , McLaren will surely introduce another car to fill in the "P14" slot in the near future .
