HTC officially announced their slightly affordable version of the HTC One M8 dubbed HTC One E8 . The phone looks a bit like the HTC One M7 from last year but it comes with a polycarbonate shell .The HTC One E8 basically has the same internal specs as the flagship , but the camera , and the pricing has been altered to match the $450 list price .
For better or for worse , The HTC One E8 skips the 4megapixel "Ultrapixel" madness HTC has been carrying out for two years , and in return , the Main camera has been replaced by a single 13MP camera with a f2.2aperture and 1080p recording . The camera flash has been reduced to a single LED and it does not have the Optical image stabilization feature present in the One M series . The front camera has been left untouched and it still has a wide angle 5mp sensor at the front .
The display of the E8 has the same 1080 p resolution of its Premium brother , the display is protected by Gorilla glass 3 and it has 441ppi . The dual front "Boomsound" speakers are also left untouched .
Hardware specs are basically left untouched , but the E8 has a slightly faster processor (2.5Ghz) MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 chipset which is slightly faster than the one found on the M8(2.3Ghz MSM 8974AB) . the chipset uses Krait 400 architecture , and has Adreno 320 GPU . The E8 has 2GB of RAM ,16GB of storage which is expandable upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot .
The E8 features 4G LTE support and TDLTE support for China , it supports the standard 2G GSM frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) and China specific 4G bands - (FDD 1800/2100nFDD-B1/B3 TDD-2600 TDD-B41) .The phone supports Dual sim , but they are both of the NANO SIM standard . The phone has a healthy 2600mAh battery which is not user replaceable , but it would have been a wiser choice if they stuck something like 3000mAh's instead ,But hopefully HTC's Sense 6 overlay will have some power saving features built into Android 4.4 so it won't be as bad as Stock Android devices like the Nexus 5 .The phone comes in 4 colors , you can spec the phone in Polar white ,Electric Crimson (glossy red),Maldives blue and Misty Gray. The E8 is currently sold in China Only , but HTC will hopefully launch it elsewhere because at a $450 unlocked price , the E8 is a better spec'ed and better looking phone compared to its other plastic rivals .
