Microsoft's next big thing is almost here , Windows 10 - officially announced and explained about a few days back , the OS is said to revolutionize and fix the errors Microsoft made with Windows 8 and 8.1 ,although the OS is mostly focused on the desktop experience , the OS name will also be relevant to Microsoft's Windows Phone platform as it is said to be the first step in giving smartphones and desktops a common platform to work with .The new Windows 10 update for Windows Phone smartphones are is said to bring in new sync options , new theming options and the ability to share a common appstore and apps while being simple . At first Microsoft promised that all existing Windows Phones will get the Windows 10 update ,but now they are slowly reverting that statement with the new statement - "today's Lumia devices can be upgraded to Windows 10" - the statement "Today" might indicate that Microsoft might drop off some of the older ,less capable Lumia and other non Lumia Windows Phone devices (may they rest in peace) from the update or might skip on features which will ultimately seal their fate .
The current crop of Windows Phones including the Lumia 435 ,Lumia 735 and the Lumia 930 are all mentioned to get the update and we can expect older flagship devices like the Lumia 920 ,925,1020 to get the update , other devices like the Lumia 520 might be dropped off (older gen processor as well) but considering that many of 2014's Nokia Lumia devices also had just 512mb of RAM , they might get a neutered version of windows 10 (similar to Apple's iOS 6 on the iPhone 3GS).Although ram was never issue in Windows Phone day to day performance (lag) , newer software versions might demand more ram( atleast a minimum of 1GB RAM to run the next gen Mobile OS) , and this statement was mentioned in Microsoft's Chris Weber quote "We're making it as easy as possible to get Windows 10. Windows 10 has been designed to run well on today's Lumia phones. Like any upgrade to a new platform, not every phone will upgrade or support all possible Windows 10 features, and certain features and experiences will require more advanced future hardware. Our goal is for the majority of the Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 to join the Windows ecosystem along with an expected hundreds of millions of PCs, tablets and other devices running the next generation of Windows,"
