Microsoft says the global rollout of Windows 10 will start on the 26th of June (this year) , this is the first time the official rollout date was declared since the launch of Windows 10 technical preview last year .Windows 10 is said to be the next gen Multi-platform operating system developed by Microsoft in response to the poorly received Windows 8/8.1 Operating systems , the new OS brings all the goodness of Windows 7 and 8.1 into a single operating system that will easily scale to Tablets , Laptops and desktops without layers of confusion in the process .
The new Windows 10 update will bring massive improvements over current operating systems from its UI layouts and integration to web services including Onedrive Cloud storage and Cortana , The update will be available for Desktops , laptops and tablets (surface owners rejoice) at first and eventually ARM versions of the OS will tickle down to Windows Phone , RT etc .The operating system is said to be available in 160 countries at launch
Speaking further , Terry Myerson of Microsoft stated - we’ve made great progress on Windows 10 and we’re nearly ready to deliver this free upgrade to all of our Windows customers* - As stated in previous notes , Windows 10 is free* for all those who already paid for a licensed copy of Windows 7 or 8/8.1 , if you have one , you can Reserve a copy - which means the OS (about 3GB) gets downloaded to your PC where you can install it manually ,As for pirate copies , well look back now as Microsoft has a plan for you as well - free Windows 10 , with a lot of Watermarks and notifications that will ultimately drive you mad or run to your mother asking for her credit card
“We have always been committed to ensuring that customers have the best Windows experience possible,” a Microsoft statement notes. “With Windows 10, although non-Genuine PCs may be able to upgrade to Windows 10, the upgrade will not change the genuine state of the license. Non-Genuine Windows is not published by Microsoft. It is not properly licensed, or supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner. If a device was considered non-genuine or mis-licensed prior to the upgrade, that device will continue to be considered non-genuine or mis-licensed after the upgrade.” - Microsoft
This is to say that Pirates need not apply , although there is a possibility that Microsoft might eventually give users some freedom especially if they are in a country with limited access to paid software -ex - China , the note for now is that all pirated ISO's will carry all the non genuine perks if you want Windows 10 the wrong way .
Windows Phone users on the other hand might have to wait a bit longer as they are set to receive Window 10 - minus the Phone badge , this update brings massive changes to the software and almost all flagship Windows phone devices and some small ones including the new Lumia 43X versions are said to receive it , RT users on the other hand might have to get their tissues ready as Windows 10 is not compatible with their devices , according to Microsoft , a separate update will be available for them later on.
