Microsoft will not update all Lumia's to Windows 10 mobile , Windows 7 and 8/8.1 support to be extended

Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system recieved a lot of flak over the past few months for being too pushy .This however has not stopped its adoption rate and many coroprate firms are already shifting to the new operating system , But as with the case when Windows 8 came along , many users still prefered the older Windows 7 operating system  as it was the most stable operating system so far , this has however reduced the number of users who want to upgrade and therefore Microsoft made a unpopular move by stating that Windows 7 and 8 support on Skylake processors winn end in July of 2017 . This move however brought in negative press and therefore Microsoft has now stated that they will support Windows 7 , 8 and 8.1 through 2017 upto 2018 . This is said to give ample time for users to shift to Windows 10 if you want to use the next gen skylake processors . The move however does mean that people who want to skip Microsofts forced important updates or alleged spyware would probably have to shift to using non Intel processor or stick with the current hardware until updates finally slows it down eventually (or jump ship) ? .Microsoft however will support Windows 7 and 8/8.1 users upto about 2020 with only the most critical updates .

As for mobile , Microsoft has decided that not all Lumias are to be treated the same . The new Windows 10 mobile , a successor to the Windows Phone 8.1 software promises many new features but apparently devices launched in 2012-2013 are not welcome - most notably the Lumia 1020 and the 920 . Windows phone users who were promised updates would probably feel burned but considering that manufacturers like HTC( 8x,8s) , Blu and many others have basically ignored their handsets (BLU's JE handset was said to recieve the update and it has now been dropped ) .This cycle of dropping support is similar to the time when Windows 7 handsets were dropped from getting Windows 8 . But there are many hardware reasons why the update will not reach many phones , but considering that about half the user base has older Lumia 520/525 or Lumia 620/630 handsets , this kill joy event might be a major factor to woo them off to other platforms . Microsoft has listed the following handsets as the only ones recieving the next gen software update .

- Lumia 1520
- Lumia 930
- Lumia 830
- Lumia 730/735
- Lumia 640/640 XL
- Lumia 635 (1GB)
- Lumia 636 (1GB)/638 (1GB)
- Lumia 540
- Lumia 535/532
- Lumia 435/430
