LG V30

LG has officially announced the latest iteration to the LG V series of smartphones . The new LG V30 - the successor to last year's V20 brings Military level drop protection (MIL STD 810G compliant) , a 6" P-OLED display , a dual camera system with a f1.6 aperture and a large 3300 mAh battery .

Design



The LG V30 features a LG G6 inspired design which has now been adjusted to accommodate a 6" P-OLED display with a aspect ratio of 18:9 . The display , which takes up 82% of the front real estate makes this wafer thin (7.3mm) and almost bezel-less up front  . The body , which features a metal frame and a rear glass plate which houses the inserts for the camera module , the Laser AF and LED module and the rear facing fingerprint reader  , the total overall weight of this large phone therefore is just 158g .

The whole phone is protected by a IP68 dust and water resistance rating and Mil 810G drop resistance rating as well .

Hardware

At first glance , the phone features a gigantic 6" P-OLED (Plastic OLED) display which is resistant to impact rather than a traditional LCD display . The display which has a 18:9 aspect ratio comes with a resolution of 2880x1440p (537ppi) and it is HDR10 ready .

The LG V30 , like most flagships of late 2017 , features a 8 core 2.45Ghz Snapdragon 835 processor with a Adreno 540 GPU . The phone features 4GB of RAM , 64/128GB internal storage and a microSD card slot .

The camera on the V30 is probably one of the best -if not the best right now . The camera module , which features 2x16MP sensors (1 micro meter pixel size for better low light capabilities ) with one equipped with a f1.6 aperture - a first for a smartphone ! , OIS and Phase detection AF with a laser rangefinder  and the second one with a f1.9 aperture without OIS . . Both share a mix tone LED flash unit . The main camera shoots 4K UHD @60fps . The front sensor features a 5MP resolution with a 112 micrometer pixel size and a 1/5" sensor size .

The battery on the phone is a non removable 3300 mAh unit which can be charged either via inductive(wireless) charging  or using the quick charging 3 feature via USB C 3.0 . The phone features LTE and Dual or single sim depending on your storage variation .

Pricing

LG is yet to comment on the availability or pricing for the V30 , but rumors do say the device will be $700+ .
