Apple has announced their latest custom silicon powered MacBook Pro's. The refresh, which basically ends the last of the intel MacBook devices from Apple's existing lineup also consists of improved M1 processors dubbed the Apple M1 Pro and Apple M1 Max
Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max
The two new processors are basically an evolution of the already successful ARM based M1 Soc, the processors, which still use the base M1 architecture, offers 70% more CPU power thanks to a 10 core design with 8 high performance cores and 2 efficiency cores, while the GPU Core count is basically where the M1 Pro and M1 Max blows the year-old SOC out of the water as the M1 Pro offers 1x more graphic power (16 cores) over the M1 while the M1 Max consists of 4X the performance (32 Cores) while the Pro has a total of 32GB RAM support while the Max has support for 64GB.
Of course the MacPro still holds on to its Intel internals, but Apple will surely update that to a variant of the M1 in the future, and it won't be called the Pro Max for sure.
Apple's new MacBook Pros with ports!
The last few years of MacBook Pros didn't really do justice to the pro name, but Apple is now set to redeem themselves as the new 14" and 16" MacBook Pros bring in some much needed ports - such as HDMI out, an SD card and the good old pin style Magsafe 3. This is also supported by USBC Thunderbolt 4 and 3 USBC ports with the thunder port one supporting USB C charging, DisplayPort/VGA and USB4 Speeds. The displays on the Pro models start at 14" and it features a 120hz 3024x1964 resolution XDR display , while the bigger model has a 3456x2234 resolution one, both have a 1080p Webcamera with a notch and can last your movie watching needs for 21 hours or 14 hours of surfing thanks to a larger 100W power cell (the 14" model has a 70W hour model and thus lasts 17 hours for playback and 11 hours for surfing). Both models have 65W fast charging support.
512GB all the way upto 8TB of storage and this is where you can expect to pay a premium, the base 14" model starts at $1999 for the base 512GB model and goes upto $2499 for the 1TB SSD model, the pro model starts at $2499 and goes upto $3499 for the 1TB model with 32GB of RAM, but you can upgrade theses upto $6099 in the 16" model with 8TB storage and the full 64GB of RAM.
Of course, if you don't fancy paying $2000+ for the 14"-16" models, you can still get the M1 powered "Vanilla" MacBook Pro with M1 for $1299 albeit lack of ports.
