Apple has announced a new $29 accessory which could usher in a new age of tracking accessories. The new Apple Airtag - a small locator puck which could be strapped to your keys or bag is said to make your life easier by basically pinging the location of the airbag to your iPhone so you don't have to spend your lifetime searching for lost items.
The item works with the power of a CR2032 cell which allows the tag to power its Apple U1 SOC to either play an alarm and broadcast its location to your iPhone. The Find my app which when paired to the tag , allows the tag to be located even from a distance of 30 feet and even from miles away thanks to clever software which allows the tag to ping its location to the nearest iPhone in order to send the location back to the home user - a great plan if you were to say lose a bag on the train or so on. The tag is water resistant and is expected to last a year with the CR2032 battery which is user replaceable. The Airbags come in Single pack of $29 or a 4 pack which is sold at $99 and is expected to go on sale on the 30th of April.Apple and Other third party accessory makers are said to be working on loops and straps for the Airtag to nestle in and these cost upto $449 for the Hermes edition. Special engraving is also available for the Airtag.
