CES 2015 - Sony's new Android powered Walkman costs $1200

Another Sony facepalm ? Although the market for dedicated music /media players (PMP's)  like the iPod touch and the Zune ended a few years ago , Sony is still keeping their heritage and morale up with a new refreshed Walkman PMP that runs Android . Say hello to the NW- ZX2  , although its a mouthful , the player is probably one of the very few PMP's available as many rival companies have already given up on dedicated music players due to the popularity of tablets and smartphones .Although we don't think this new Walkman won't make any difference - especially with its mind boggling $1200 price tag , the player will certainly be the best Android rival to the iPod touch to date . The player , like all "walkmen" NX before it  has a dedicated HX digital audio amp which will make all the difference .The player has 128GB of storage , and according to Sony , the player can output audio mp3's for 60 hours (low quality) or 30 hours (high quality/lossless) . ...

CES 2015 - Asus Zenfone Zoom comes with 3x optical zoom

Cameras on smartphones usually lack optical zoom because of design restraints , but as Nokia demonstrated  , it is possible to cram high tech camera technology into a phone but at the cost of good looks and thin designs . Asus , a company that has a very short history of making Android powered smartphones has now unveiled a new addition to the Zenfone lineup , which has a familiar design and a camera that can run rings around most rival smartphones of today . Introducing the Zenfone Zoom . The phone , launched today at CES 2015 looks quite familiar due to the circular camera bulge at the rear . The phone , which launched with Android 5.0 and a 64bit Intel Atom Chip and 4GB of Ram is probably unique because it is one of the few smartphones to pack Optical Zoom .The Zenfone Zoom has 3x optical zoom thanks to a 10 element lens array and a Optical image stabilized 13mp sensor , which also has a laser rangefinder , the camera also has a two tone flash and a 5mp front facing camera . CES 2015 - Alcatel OneTouch Watch

Alcatel has a long history of launching a plethora of devices at the two main trade shows - CES and MWC . This year , the portfolio is a little bit shorter than previous years but surprisingly Alcatel has managed to grab some attention due to the launch of a new Smartwatch   which , at $149 is quite a steal . Armed with some good looks the watch looks a lot like a imitation Moto 360 . Like the Moto 360 , this has a 1.2" semi- circular watch face which kind of adds a bit of insult as this is aimed to be a affordable alternative to the Android wear platform . The watch , as mentioned , uses Alcatel's own software which works on Android (4.3 upwards) and iOS (6 and above) . The watch has a heart rate sensor , step counter and even a acclerometer + gyroscope and NFC for pairing with Android . The iOS pairing will allow Apple users to get notifications about phone calls , messages and Email  while Android users will get to add more customizations to each notificat...

Garmin is well known for its excellent navigational  services but now in the age of "smart" everything , the company is slowly shaking its rugged adventurer appeal in order to appeal to those who still want excellent tracking services  but with less 1980's design language , a part of this change comes with Garmins 3 new "smartwatches" which the company unveiled alongside a new Vivofit 2 fittness tracker at CES 2015 . First off , we have the Vivoactive smartwatch , this "sony smartwatch" like Garmin is probably the thinnest watch from the brand and it is also the cheapest . The watch costs $249 and $299 if you opt to have a built in heart late monitor option .The watch allows GPS and Glonass tracking and the ability to install 3rd party apps and watchfaces and widgets from developers and the ability to read smartphone notifications makes it more attractive to younger buyers as they might not care much about the average GPS quality the watch might prov...
