Sony's Z2 to pack "Sirius" camera specs , 15.5 MP manual mode , 1080p @60fps and much more

Sony's alleged successor to the Xperia Z1, thought to be codenamed Sony D6503 'Sirius' and expected to be released as the Sony Xperia Z2, is once again doing rounds of the internet, with new reports detailing its camera feature. The rumoured Sony D6503 'Sirius', which has in the past been expected to have the same 20.7-megapixel camera as the Xperia Z1, in its recent leak of screenshots of the camera settings, shows off the ability to record 1080p video at 60 frames per second. If true, it will be more than twice as fast as Xperia Z1, which has the usual 30fps recording mode. With the Xperia Z1, users could click 20-megapixels images only in the 4:3 aspect ratio. Users could click widescreen 16:9 images only at a 8-megapixels resolution. With the latest report however, it seems evident that the settings shown on the Sony D6503 "Sirius" suggest that one can also get the same 16:9 aspect shot with 15.5-megapixels. Last month, XDA developer's forum ...

Leaked "Three UK" carrier document shows Galaxy Note 3 and Xperia Z1 Honami listed for a September release and availability

Android users in the UK are set for a treat this fall. An anonymous tipster, who claims to work for UK carrier Three UK, has passed along a screenshot regarding device release dates. The picture, believed to be internal documentation from Three, shows the release dates for two highly anticipated devices: the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z1. The Note 3 is arriving on Three September 16th, while the Z1 (Honami) is set to arrive on September 24th, according to the document. Both devices show the announcement date of September 4 at IFA, hinting that employees should not be discussing the news with customers or, you know, sending screenshots to Engadget. The screenshot also shows The Sony Xperia Z Ultra arriving on September 9th, which is contradictory to news we’ve heard. While the Three UK site readily notes in a June press release that the Xperia Z Ultra is coming, no date was given at the time (or since). All indications are that the Xperia Z Ultra will begin shipping to ...

Xperia Z1 "Honami" press image shows off metal band , 3 colors and Sony's 20 mp Camera

The Sony Xperia Z1, erstwhile known as 'Honami', has leaked once again, this time through a press image. This latest image shows the device in three colors: black, white and purple. The colors are identical to the ones the Xperia Z is sold in and the device itself looks remarkably similar. One major difference between the exterior of the Z and the Z1, however, is the metal frame that runs around the device. It's unclear whether the metal acts are merely the frame for the device or also doubles up as the antenna as on the iPhone. The Xperia Z1 is Sony's upcoming flagship Android smartphone that has been rumored for quite some time now. It is said to have a 5.0-inch FullHD display, quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 20 megapixel camera and all the bells and whistles you expect from a flagship Android device these days. The Xperia Z1 is expected to be announced officially at an event in Berlin on September 4.( GsmArena ) you can follow rel...

Sony's upcoming camera attachments leak out

One of the more unusual smartphone rumors to come our way this summer has been one about Sony and plans for an external add-on phone camera accessory. More than just a lens, the product was supposed to be some sort of all-in-one camera that affixed to the rear of an existing phone and wirelessly communicated with the handset. We were very much skeptical at the time, but today a new leak sure seems to confirm those claims, and gives us a nice, clear look at how this product could launch. Supposedly, there will be at least two of these camera accessories, Sony’s models DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100. The former would have an 18-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor, while the latter would get a big 20.2-megapixel one-inch component. Both would have internal batteries, and support SD cards for storage, but all camera controls would be done wireless through smartphone software. Apps supporting the lens-cameras are expected to be available for both iPhone and Android. While this now seems very m...

More Xperia i1 "Honami" pictures leak out in flesh and blood

The next Sony Xperia flagship will be codenamed ‘Honami’. Some have pointed to the phone being a refresh of the Xperia Z and judging by the leaked pictures below, you can see why. With a number of renders and fan-made concepts flying around the place, it can be tricky sorting out the genuine leaks. However, these new pictures look like the real deal. They bear resemblance to the last set of photos we saw, but the aluminium frame has now been tinted black (much the same as the black version of the Xperia SP or Xperia Z Ultra). The huge speaker grill is at the bottom and there is a dedicated camera button, as per the previous leak. The placement of the camera lens and LED flash also match the ePrice leak from last week. We’ll bring you more news as we have it. Sony Honami rumoured specifications 5-inch 1080p AH-IPS with “Triluminous” 1/2.3-inch 20.6MP Exmor RS BSI sensor 28mm equivalent Sony G lens LED flash 16GB internal storage with microSD Snapdragon 800 at 2.25GHz 2...

Sony Xperia i1 "Honami" System dump and press renders leak out

A Sony Honami press render has been allegedly leaked. This is nothing new by itself, as we’ve seen previous purported press renders of the phone. However, they didn’t quite match the alleged real-life pictures that surfaced on the interwebs recently. To put it simply, this phone, claimed to be the Honami, wasn’t really looking like this render, also claimed to be of the Honami. However, today’s press renders, reportedly grabbed from a leaked Honami system dump, are somewhat closer to the pictures we’ve seen. You can instantly spot the Windows Phone-like dedicated camera shutter button on the bottom left, as well as the aluminum chassis which embraces the phone. The button placement on the Sony Honami press render also seems to match, but unfortunately there’s no render of the back of the device. Now about the system dump ...First of all, a number of strings in the build.prop have revealed some key specs for the handset. This includes a Snapdragon 800 chipset, the ability to capt...
