Galaxy S3 and S3 mini will not get Android 4.4 update - Samsung

Samsung has decided to pull the plug on Android 4.4 Kitkat updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the S3 Mini , the Galaxy S3 was Samsung's flagship device in 2012  and it came as two versions with one running on the Snapdragon S4 chipset and the international version running on the Exynos 4 Quadcore chipset . The Samsung Galaxy s3 mini was also available in two variants . Most of the Snapdragon versions of the S3 have been replaced by carrier contacts but they are said to receive Android 4.4 in the future ,sadly the international version (Galaxy S3 i9300) and the S3 mini will not receive Android 4.4 Kitkat due to its low ram (like most other OEM skins , 1GB is no longer enough for Samsung's Skin - Touchwiz) . The phone joins the HTC One X as the second major 2012 flagship phone to receive the obsolete status . “In order to facilitate an effective upgrade on the Google platform, various hardware performances such as the memory (RAM, ROM, etc.), multi-tasking capabilities, an...

Samsung Galaxy S3 explodes in girls pocket

An 18 year old girl was at work when her Samsung Galaxy S III exploded in her pocket. If you have the guts to look at the photo of the burns to her leg, then here you go . To make a long story short, her boss had to tear her trousers off in order to save her. Go head and make your joke. Done? Right. Samsung Switzerland says they’re investigating the incident(see statement below) and will likely send the phone back to Korea for closer examination. "Once we have been able to contact this person, we will launch a thorough investigation to shed light on the accident and, in this context, what is left of the phone will probably be sent to Korea. [Samsung submits its products to ] rigorous quality controls."-Mirjam Berger, spokesperson, Samsung Switzerland What can you do to prevent this from happening to you? I hate to say this, but there’s really nothing you can do. You have to remember, Samsung has sold over 20 million of these. What I’m about to say is perverse, but if o...

Only a few Samsung devices will get Android Key Lime Pie (5.0)

Last week, following the introduction of the Galaxy S 4, we talked a little about Samsung’s promises to bring some of the GS4′s features to existing Samsung models. Today, we’re back to looking at what the future holds for updates to a number of Samsung devices, this time concerning the possibility of them seeing get Android 5.0. This info is supposedly a “pre-list” from a Samsung insider, and the data may change between now and when Samsung makes its final decisions. Basically, of all Samsung Androids currently announced, only the Galaxy S 4, the GS3, the Note II, Note 8.0, and Note 10.1 will make the leap to Android 5.0 . Older models like the Galaxy S II and original Note, along with the Galaxy S III mini and other lower-powered models, will top-out at Android 4.2.2 Some of Samsung’s more mid-range Androids may get somewhat of a “value pack” Android 5.0 update, supposedly offering some 5.0-like features, but would ultimately stay on Jelly Bean. While it might be nice to see ...

Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in Purple for Sprint

Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the newly announced Galaxy S4 has a bigger and better screen, a faster processor, and more software features, some that will make it to its predecessor anyway. But one area that the S4 can’t compete with – for now – is in the paintjob department, as it’ll only be available in black and white. As for the S3, we heard earlier in the month that Sprint might be offering a new purple variant soon. Now, we have what appears to be the first official rendering of said purple model, which actually isn’t that far off from our own render. Leaked by the folks at @evleaks, the purported new model is adorned with the usual Sprint branding on the back. But apart from what meets the eye, everything else should remain the same. The latest leak suggests that the handset will be arriving in mid-April. The price is still unknown. It’s worth to note that Sprint has yet to make the purple variant of the Galaxy S3 official. If it’s really hitting stores next month, w...

Another Samsung security flaw allows attackers to use pop up browser

Exactly a week ago ,the Samsung Galaxys S3 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 had a lock screen bug which enabled malacious users to what you have on your homescreen and control some operations of the decice , although it was being patched up , another blogger has discovered more exploits that are possible despite a lock screen protecting the phablet. An Indian blogger named Ganesh first found the issue and wrote a detailed post about it. To summarize, any user simply needs to select an item listed in the information ticker. The device then prompts the user to enter the passcode to unlock the device. However, by tapping Emergency call button, the device displays the Emergency dialer window but with the Popup Browser open and fully usable. Ganesh claims that any attacker can visit webpages that has stored your personal data. Furthermore, through the browser, the attacker can also see what is in the clipboard. Naturally, Note 2 users need not worry about this problem unless their device is sto...
