Nvidia's Shield console originally came with 16GB for a price of $199 . Although a Android TV console rarely goes beyond this storage capacity , existence of a 500GB Nvidia shield console leaked out on Amazon last week , and in a swift move , all traces were pulled down . Today news of the console has come back in the form of a acknowledgement by Nvidia employee ManuelG . The console - which originally cost $199 will have a 500GB option for a $100 more and it is expected to go live this month (end of the month more like it) along with the Andorid 5.1 update for the Shield tablet . The Nvidia shield console is a Android TV console which comes with a 64bit Tegra X1 chipset , 3GB of RAM , Gigabit Ethernet,HDMI 2.0 ,Two USB 3.0 (Type A),Micro-USB 2.0,MicroSD slot,IR Receiver as well as Wifi and chromecast support . Nvidia's new Tegra X1 chip made headlines as being the first mobile chip to hit the 1 teraflop range . The processor - which uses a Big little architecture with Cortex A57 and Cortex A53 cores in a 4+4 configuration and 256 Maxwell GPU cores has enough power to close in on top tier consoles has now taken a score of 74,977 points on Antutu - a popular benchmark application .  The X1 chip is currently top dog as similar products like the Exynos 7420 on the upcoming Galaxy S6 only hit about 60,000 and therefore the X1 will probably be a powerhouse like the K1 chip of 2014 . Although devices packing the X1 chip will be limited , Nvidia - who also makes the "Shield" series of tablets will definitely include this chipset in their upcoming shield tablet which is rumored to be launched on the 3rd of March . Nvidia has been busy with the unveiling of the Tegra X1 "superchip" - the processor , unveiled last month ,packs 8 ARM Cortex A57 / ARM A53 cores giving twice the raw power as the current Tegra K1 and it even comes close to consoles thanks to its numbercrunching One Teraflop of power . The chip -which Nvidia expects to go into the next gen Tablets and small Android consoles will be available in the first half of the year , but Nvidia -who also makes the popular "Shield" tablet is said to unveil the 2015 successor which -like the previous model will have Nvidia's top of the line Tegra X1 chip under the hood .The exact date of the next Shield tablet launch is still unknown , but rumors speculate that the device might pop up in around July of this year (same time as the current Shield tablet's launch). Nvidia has alwaysbeen first in launching benchmark setting mobile processors for a long time ,and with another year over ,Nvidia has once again claimed the benchmark title to itself with the new Tegra X1 Syetem on a chip .
