Canon 5D mk3 gets 4k Raw via Magic Lantern - work in progress

Images via - Newsshooter  At the same time when the 5D mk4 recieved its C Log update ,Canon 5D Mk3 users can also enjoy some 4K action thanks to Magic Lantern who has managed to throttle up the camera's base 1080p recording by giving it the ability to shoot 4K 30fps in RAW  (DCI 4k). This feat which is achieved in a beta form at the moment does mean that even older hardware can still support new features provided a lengthy coding phase is done , right now , the 5D mk3 can be updated with the early builds (kind of like those nightly android builds of a new os  version) ,so keep that in mind before you install anything .(link to download and read more info on the software is posted on the source link below). Canon 5d MkIV gets C log update for $99

At launch the 5D mk4 recieved a good dose of attention as many condemned the 1.7x crop in 4K , but like all things ,the small amount of buyers who bought the camera for its Dual pixel AF assisted video learnt to live with it and soon enough an update fixed the crop to 1.27x  (or 1.29x on 1080p) and thigs slowly settled . But now Canon has once again set an update for users which is said to appeal to the video crowd as now the camera allows a flatter C Log recording option . The update , which costs $99 is mostly aimed at the pro end crowd who are serious about color grading as the log profiles have muted shadows and colors which overall wider dynamic range of the footage captured . The update which is available on Canon's website is also said to be available on future 5D-4 units which will be sold at a body only  $3599 price . Canon 6D Mk2 rumored for May 2017 launch

via - the digital picture  A new set of rumors state that Canon is set to launch the successor to its 6D  in May of this year .The 6D , which is in a dire need for a successor was launched in 2012 and has so far brought in new recruits who wanted a cheaper Full frame alternative to the expensive 5D /and 1D models . The rumored camera , which is  is said to have a new 28 megapixel sensor with  Canon's excellent  Dual pixel AF system is probably a world ahead of the 6D in term of AF and overall quality . The Camera also brings a tilt screen display - a must have for all cameras , a new shell design with dual SD card slots , a new Digic 7 processor , a new almost 100% viewfinder  and possibly a excellent but now old 1080p@60fps (we are not completely sure about 4k as it would cannibalize the some of the 5D mk4 sales) . The upcoming camera is expected to cost about $2k body only ,but do take these rumors with a pinch of salt . source - thenewcamera
