Galaxy Note 3 owners are going to have limited options when it comes to using their smartphone on another continent. According to Android Authority, Samsung has region locked both the American and European models of the Note 3, allowing them to only work within limited areas by default. For the European version, that's largely all of Europe, while the American version includes North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Samsung has confirmed details of the European lock to GigaOm, but we haven't heard back on confirmation about the American model. Though the Note 3 will be able to connect to foreign networks, it won't be able to do so simply through using a foreign network's SIM card like usual — instead, Note 3 owners will have to pay their local carrier's international roaming fees in order to tap into wireless networks on another continent. In a strange move by ZTE, the company is planning to sell its latest handset in the US and UK by listing it on eBay. Of course, this wouldn’t the first time that companies have resorted to eBay for selling their products, but it’s interesting to see a mobile phone maker sell their devices directly through eBay instead of their own website. The phone is called the ZTE Open, and it will feature the Firefox OS, making it one of the first of several such devices to release in the US. The phone will be sold exclusively in orange for just $80 unlocked. And because it’s unlocked, Mozilla says that the phone won’t come with any local apps or features, meaning no bloatware! Why the aim to sell on eBay, though? Essentially, it’s all about bringing the ZTE Open to more consumers around the world, and the low price point and availability on eBay should give more customers the opportunity to purchase the new phone and use it how they see fit. Speaking to Walt Mossberg at D11 this morning, Google's Sundar Pichai offered glorious news for anyone who loves the HTC One but craves an untouched Android experience: he confirmed that there is indeed a stock Android 4.2.2 version of the flagship device One coming, and it will be fully unlocked for T-Mobile and AT&T at the solid price of $599. It'll go on sale in the Google Play Store on June 26th, the same date as its $649 counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 stock edition. The new version of the device -- which will be sold in the US initially -- will come SIM-unlocked, with an unlocked bootloader and 32GB storage. In terms of radios, it will offer quadband LTE (700/850/AWS/1900), triband HSPA+ (850/1900/2100) and the usual quadband GSM / EDGE. Of course, going with a pure Android device. HTC has announced the availability of the HTC One Developer Edition, which tacks both features and dollars onto its lovely smartphone. This version of the handset is aimed specifically towards developers, and offers the features you’d expect to see as a result, including an unlocked bootloader and SIM. The HTC One Developer Edition features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, as well as 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. The display is full HD 1080p, and the smartphone’s body is made entirely of metal, making this a robust handset both inside and out. As mentioned before, both the SIM and bootloader are unlocked. In addition, there are speakers on the front of the handset, as well as two dual-membrane microphones.
