India's department of telecommunications has officially banned  857 websites in a attempt to curb pornography , the move , done in the name of decency will prevent users from accessing common pornographic sites ,along with some affiliated adult dating sites . The move however has also targeted some non pornographic sites such as 9gag.tv collegehumor.com ,Barstoolsports and even popURL Many people point out that the content they display are already available on websites like youtube  so adding them to the same list is not a viery thought-out move to begin with. Kickass torrents is one of the worlds most popular Torrent download sites , the website - which ran under a .SO (Somalian) domain has been banned by the Somalian domain registry ,prompting Kickass admins to shift back to the .TO domain used previously (Kickass.to) . The incident , unlike Piratebay's full takedown was minor in comparison and therefore the Kickass team were able to restore it to its original state , the Somalian domain website still displays a DNS failed message , but you can add the .to domain and continue to its current site . Piratebay - a major torrent sharing website was taken down last week by Swedish officials in the hope of reducing the surge of internet piracy which is viewed negatively by media giants and law enforcement agencies alike , the website , which went down to the Davy Jones Locker after police took down the entire website including taking its servers and other hardware has pretty much failed  Users who used the website numbered to 99 million before the takedown and after the incident , the visitor levels dropped to 95.3 million , but after two days , the visitor levels climbed to 100.2million putting the smile out of those who took part in the curbing . Following a unsuccessful ban on Twitter , the Government of Turkey has decided to block the the Google Open public DNS service 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 because of its recent usage against turkish authorities . Last week, the microblogging site - Twitter was blocked after many Turkish citizens started to post about a powerful corruption scandal that happened there .Posts about it and the latest happenings went viral and the authorities had to pull the plug . But many users overcame the ban by using Google's public DNS services and soon people started to paint various hints about avoiding the ban on many buildings , and due to these actions , the number of tweets were even higher than it was before the ban (17000 tweets per minute).The move  to restrict internet access ,according to the newspaper  Hurriyet Daily News .comes as a executive order because Twitter pays no heed to court rulings ordering the website to remove the offensive tweets.
