Samsung has announced a new budget Android tablet called the Galaxy Tab E (9.6) ,the tablet , which is probably a member of the tablet wing of the affordable E series of Samsung smartphones brings a familiar Samsung experience to the masses once again . The tablet , unlike the recently launched Galaxy tab A series , is still based on the old 16:9 aspect ratio , the display is also sub par as it only has a resolution of 1280x800 which puts about 157ppi when blown to the 9.6" this display carries .The rest of the specs include 1.5GB of RAM , a Quad core Spreadtrum SC7730SE CPU clocked to 1.3Ghz ,8GB of onboard storage and a MicroSD card slot as well as a 5MP rear module and a 2mp front facing one .The battery on the new tablet is 5000 mAh and Samsung might pull off good battery life as the tablet comes with the older Android 4.4.4 Kitkat pre -installed (rather than Lollipop) , Samsung is also said to bundle free Microsoft Apps as a part of its deal with the company . The tablet ...

HTC to dish out Android 4.4.2+Sense 6 updates for all 2013 flagship phones in June and July of this year

With the highly anticipated HTC One (M8) is only a few hours away from its official launch ,the older flagships of the last year look on as they slowly disappear from the front pages . But as HTC promised , the phones that came out in 2013 will be supported for 2 years worth of updates , and according to a latest leak , the HTC One M7, One max , One Mini and the Butterfly S will recieve the Android 4.4.2 +Sense 6 update during June and July of this year . Sadly due to lack of support from the chip provider Nvidia , updates for the 2012 flagship phones - the HTC One X and the X+ has been canceled ,and this will surely leave a few remaining One X owners(including myself) feeling a little down ,but fear not because you can always install a 3rd party rom after a good rooting process . International Samsung Galaxy S3 missing from the Android 4.4 KitKat update list

Samsung's US team released a list of devices that are getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update, putting their users' minds at ease. What about the international versions of the phones though? A blogger in Poland got in touch with a local Samsung representative and found out. Here's the list: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Samsung Galaxy S4 Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Samsung Galaxy Note II Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Samsung Galaxy Grand Samsung Galaxy Express 2 The Samsung Galaxy S III is conspicuously missing from the list, even though its phablet counterpart – the Note II – is on it. Reportedly, the reason is the amount of RAM, the Galaxy S III has "only" 1GB. That can't be the real reason though – the Galaxy Grand has 1GB R...

Sony to reconsider Android 4.4 for Xperia SP

Sony Mobile has never officially confirmed that the Xperia SP is on the list to receive the future Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. The only devices that will definitely get the update according to Sony are the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 (we would imagine the Z1 Compact would also make the list). However, Sony’s product pages for the Xperia SP did hint that Android KitKat is likely as far back as November 2013, with the version overview pointing to KitKat being a “future version”. This status has remained the same, until just now, when the product page has been changed to “Under Investigation”. Given the delayed launch of Android 4.3 for Xperia SP owners, it was initially meant to launch by the end of 2013, maybe Sony has decided not to bother with KitKat. Or maybe, it still is on the agenda, but Sony doesn’t want to get people’s hopes up. Maybe it appeared on the “future version” as a mistake. At some point, Sony will clarify the upgrade cycle ...

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and S4 to receive Android 4.4 in January 2014

A newly leaked schedule reveals which will be the first Samsung devices to get Android 4.4 KitKat. As you could expected the first to get the new Android version are this and last year flagships - Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will get the KitKat treatment just two months from now - in January, 2014. The 2012 ex-flagships Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III will be getting KitKat in March or April 2014. The new Android 4.4 KitKat improves the UI performance thanks to its Project Svelte - the successor of Project Butter. This means all devices to be update with KitKat will become smoother and faster than ever, with even better multi-tasking and improved RAM management. We are sure Samsung will bring a few goodies to its TouchWiz UI, too. There is no official confirmation on the roadmap and we can't verify if this document is indeed the real deal, so you should take this info with a healthy pinch of salt. GSMAren...

Sony's Android 4.4 update list to include the Xperia SP , older models are still under investigation

Sony announced its Android 4.4 KitKat plans earlier this month, confirming that the newest update will arrive on five Sony Xperia devices: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. At the time, Sony referred to these as the “first raft” of products that will get KitKat, leaving the door open to further announcements down the line. Well it looks like Sony has at least confirmed which handsets it is considering to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat via the company’s support pages. Looking at the Xperia SP support page seems to suggest that KitKat is pretty much a dead cert. Checking out the pages for the Xperia ZR, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V says that Android 4.4 KitKat is “Under Investigation”, which we take to mean it is seeing whether it is viable to make the port. None of this is proof it will happen, but it hopefully gives some insight into the company’s plans. XperiaBlog

Galaxy Nexus owners petition for Android 4.4 Kitkat on their devices

If you own a Galaxy Nexus from the not too distant 2011, then it's probably safe to say that you ain't having a lot of fun these last days. Google has officially announced that it's pulling the plug on the gNexus, citing its policy of not supporting devices older than 18 months (really, Google?). Seeing as how the Nexus 5 and its trusty sidekick, Android 4.4 KitKat, have been making headlines these past few weeks, it's only natural to see owners of Sammy's spin of the Nexus disgruntled. One such owner has taken action onto the web, to ask for support for his petition to Google's Sundar Pichai with the hope that the head of Android will reconsider the finality of his decision and take the Galaxy Nexus for a last dance. The petition in question has received some near 14,000 signatures and over 3,400 comments that Max Duckwitz, the petition organizer, has printed and mailed to Mountain View. Now, Mr. Pichai should have the petition on his desk in a few short we...

Android 4.4 Kit-Kat is official

Links -  Read all about the New Nexus 5 Links -  developer.Android After entirely too much teasing, Google has at last taken the wraps from Android 4.4 KitKat. The new mobile OS is based on efficiency that brings smartphones to "the next billion people," according to Android Senior VP Sundar Pichai. Google's own apps use less memory, and the interface will automatically scale back to fit on devices with only 512MB of RAM. While the company can't enforce anything, it wants KitKat to be ubiquitous on Android phones released in 2014, regardless of performance -- a lofty goal when some low-end phones still ship with Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich. Much of the interface has been streamlined. There's now a camera shortcut on the lock screen and an option to rearrange home screens. The navigation interface disappears when you're inside of an app, giving back real estate on devices without hardware keys. The dialer and Hangouts make it easy to search fo...

Prototype LG Nexus 5 appears in a 7 minute video with a early build of Android 4.4/5.0

After letting us catch a glimpse of Android 4.4 KitKat and some of its new features a couple of days back, Google Nexus 5 made another unofficial appearance. This time around the upcoming LG-made smartphone left nothing to imagination by starring in an extensive, seven-minute long hands-on video. The device in the video above is likely an early prototype, as it sports a “not for sale” sign, as well as lacks the large, landscape-oriented Nexus logo we’ve seen in previous leaks. The Android version on it is dubbed Key Lime Pie, so it further suggests the pre-production nature of the smartphone. Furthermore, the upcoming Nexus 5 got caught in the Global Certification Forum database, sporting category 4 LTE connectivity which will allow the handset to reach network speeds of up to 150Mbps. This particular capability will help the Nexus 5 make a case for itself in Korea, where LTE-A networks are all the rage these days. The official announcement of the Nexus 5 is imminent. The smartphon...

Android 4.4 KitKat will feature a "always listening" application akin to the Moto X

If you saw the “always listening” feature on the Moto X this summer and wondered if it would be coming to all Android devices soon, you may be in luck: a leaked build of the next version of Android, 4.4 KitKat, has a clue. This version of the software will likely be released within the next couple of weeks – or as soon as the 15th of this month – and inside is found a reference to homepage-based “ok Google Now” abilities. Where before today this spoken-aloud command ability was limited to the speaker button on the Google Search widget and/or inside Google Search itself, this push expands the ability to your homescreen. This is the next big step between what we had before Android 4.4 KitKat and what the Moto X works with. Motorola pushed this ability to anywhere – even while the Moto X’s display is off – using a unique bit of processor architecture called the Motorola X8 compute system. Inside this, you’ve got a unique CPU core dedicated specifically to low-power listening. With t...

Nexus 5 with Android Kit-Kat will push for the new nano-sim standard ,may set a new example for future smartphones as well

With the launch of the Nexus 5 on the cards next month, we’re beginning to get a brief idea of what to expect, thanks mainly to the plethora of leaks. And a new leak has now suggested that the Nexus 5 might come with support for nano SIM cards. Nano SIM cards have been a standard on Apple devices since the iPhone 5 last year, so it’s not new to the market by any means. This revelation comes from Ukrainian carrier Life which claims that it will provide nano SIM cards for its customers with smartphones like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, Nexus 5 or other Android 4.4 smartphones. That’s a little odd as the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 aren’t official yet, but it should serve as confirmation as it is coming straight from the carrier. The LG made Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 are due for an announcement in mid-October, so there’s still a couple of weeks left until anything goes official. It seems logical that the Nexus 5 would come with a nano SIM card and it wouldn’t surprise me if it becomes a stan...

Samsung may be at their final steps in completing a 64 Bit processor for future smartphones

According to a reports by a Korean media outlet, Samsung is into the close to completion of a 64-bit mobile processor intended for use in its own smartphones. The report further speculates that the chip will be first used in the company’s next flagship. The chip will also be used for products beyond smartphones, such as tablets. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if Samsung were to use the 64-bit chip in its upcoming line-up of Chromebooks destined for 2014. Shortly after the unveil of the iPhone 5s, Samsung stated that it’s working on a 64-bit CPU, which will find its place in 2014 flagshps. Right now, though, they are still in the sampling stage. Smartphones are quick approaching the 4GB RAM barrier, at which point 64-bit CPUs become a necessity. Rumors are that Android 4.4 KitKat is slated to bring 64-bit support. There is also a probability Samsung unveils a flagship with 4GB of RAM next year, since the Note 3 already has 3GB.( GSMArena )
