CES 2015 - Say hello to Nvidia's new Tegra X1 superchip

Nvidia has alwaysbeen first in launching benchmark setting mobile processors for a long time ,and with another year over ,Nvidia has once again claimed the benchmark title to itself with the new Tegra X1 Syetem on a chip . This new Tegra chip is said to be the first "Octa-core" tegra processor from the company and according to preliminary benchmarks , the chip is also the first mobile processor to reach one Teraflop of floating point performance (which is close to most high end consoles like the Xbox One) - this number has been achieved thanks to 256 Maxwell GPU cores which is the same GPU architecture found in the new GTX980 series of graphics cards in high end gaming pc's .To put it into perspective  , the first supercomputer to break the teraflop barrier in 2000 (ASCI Red) needed 76 Pentuim Pro processors and a million watts to power it .Raw CPU power to the chip is provided by 8 64 bit cores comprising of 4+4 islands with 4 Cortex A57 cores with 2MB of L2 cache a...

Digital storm's new GTX 970 and 980 powered systems unveiled

There's a lot of talk about the new Nvidia GTX  980 these days . The new 980 and 970 Graphics cards  offer good specs for prople searching for good power at a price , and due to its popularity , many companies are now using the card for their off the shelf pc towers, digital storm , one of the more creative hardware companies (like MainGear) are said to be combining the new Nvidia 900 series cards with their new Virtue Level 2 and Level 3 systems (level 2 models have the 970 version, Level 3's have the 980 version) and Bolt 2   Level 2 and 3 systems as well as high end Hailstorm 2 ($4225) and Aventum 2($4643) towers . Other specs on the devices include Level 1 Aventum II and Hailstorm II systems Intel Core i7 4790K , 2x NVIDIA GTX980 4GB , 1TB HDD, 250GB SSD ,Liquid cooling system a ASUS Z97 motherboard and Windows 8.1 Pro Level 2 and Level 3 Virtue systems ($1670 Level 2 ) ($2125 Level 3) Virtue - Intel Core i5 4th gen (8GB RAM on Level 2) (16GB Ram...

Nvidia next gen Pascal GPU architecture to be available in 2016

After announcing details about the Tegra Erista mobile processor and a $3000 graphics card , Nvidia published new details about their upcoming GPU architecture called "Pascal" .The GPU design was previously known as "Volta" and it has been slowly replaced by "Pascal" instead (fate of Volta is unknown as of now) A slide showing the earlier codename "volta" - circa 2013 (via Anandtech) A slide from GTC 2014 showing the "Pascal" architecture after Maxwell (via Anandtech) The Pascal GPU is said be the next step in avoiding data bottlenecks when data transferred between the CPU and GPU slows down the processors ability to perform tasks . The new Nvidia NVLink is a integrated chip to chip communications technology that will eventually replace the PCIe standard by about 80GB per second compared to the 16GB on PCIe. The new Pascal system will also have stacked DRAM chips which are placed in dense modules with wide interfaces...

Nvidia Tegra "Erista" will pack Maxwell GPU , 64Bit architecture

After the announcement of Nvidia's Tegra K1 , aka Logan at CES in January , the chip company didn't reveal any further details about their next mobile cpu. Along with the announcement of the Pascal GPU architecture ,Nvidia announced details about the next generation Tegra mobile processor codenamed Tegra Erista .If you are into comics , Erista is the Son of Logan , And Logan in Nvidia's case is the codename for Nvidia Tegra K1 ,The K1 was the first Tegra chip to feature the 192 Kepler GPU cores and was designed using the 64Bit ARMV8 architecture .Erista on the other hand also uses the ARMV8 64Bit design , but the Erista uses Nvidia's Maxwell GPU , the Maxwell GPU cores were announced in 2013 , but now it seems the GPU technology has shifted to mobile use . The Tegra Erista will support DirectX 12 and will also support Unreal Engine 4 for mobile . The chipset is due for launch in 2015 (hopefully at CES next January),The Tegra K1 is scheduled for launch in Q2 of this...
