Sony FS5 II (PXW-FS5M2)

Sony has officially announced the new FS5 II , Building upon the foundation laid by the Sony FS5 , the new camera features incremental improvements such as a new color science , Instant HDR and dual card slots, while keeping the core FS5 features mostly intact. The new FS5 II at first glance, looks quite similar to the older model, the camera features a Bayonet style camcorder layout with top handle accessories and a rear EVF , although it looks similar to the older model externally , the camera does pack some improvements in the sensor department as the new module is tuned for high frame-rate recording to an external recorder , therefore the FS5 II can output DCI 4K RAW in 60fps and shoot 4K RAW at 120fps for a short sequence , the camera is also capable of shooting 2K RAW at 240fps. Kinefinity Mavo Cine primes

Kinefinity  announced their new line of MAVO Cinema lenses with  25mm , 35mm,50mm ,75mm and a 100mm focal lengths and T2.0 aperture , The lenses come with a 12 bladed iris and the lens optics have a 46.5mm image circle diameter - making it ideal for any large format (35mm) cinema cameras (Alexa LF , Red Monster WW, Canon's C700FF  and the Sony Venice . Kinefinity also hopes to announce their own development plans for a 35mm FF camera which is currently called the Mavo LF . Canon announces its first full-frame cinema camera - say hello to the new C700 FF

Canon has officially announced their first Full Frame cinema camera - the C700 FF .  The camera , which sits at the top of Canon's cinema lineup ,  offers a 35mm (38.1 x 20.1mm) which can be used in either 35mm , Super 35 (APS-H) or Super 16 modes,making the camera more adaptable than the "Older" C700 model which comes with a Super35 sensor . Set to capture 5.9K at 60fps in RAW , the camera is quite capable as it can even shoot 4K at 72fps with a slight crop in either ProRES or XF AVC , other recording options include 2K at 168fps .The sensor also features Canon's industry leading Dual Pixel AF if you plan to use the camera on autofocus or subject tracking. The sensor boasts 15 stops of dynamic range and it also supports Anamorphic de-squeezing. Kinefinity Mavo - 6K and Mavo Cine primes announced

Kinefinity has officially announced the Mavo - a Super 35(24x16mm) cinema camera capable of shooting 6K, the camera, priced at $14000 with all accessories is quite a bargain considering that equvalent cameras cost the same for just the body. The Mavo ,which is capable of shooting 6K wide (6016x2520) at 60fps in ProRes or RAW (KineRAW) can also shoot Cinema 6K at 50fps, 6K open gate at 40fps , 6K anamorphic 4:3 and 6:5 , 5K at 74fps and 4K UHD at 100 fps (there is also support for 192fps on 2K ) Lens mount options for the Mavo includes PL , EF , FE and Nikon F and they can be interchanged thanks to the Mavo's KineMOUNT which allows for easy modularity , There is also an option for a variable ND carousel if needed.The camera is also said to come with an option of a removable OLPF - optical low pass filter , which would improve sharpness (but introduce Moire a bit). Fujinon MKX18-55mm t2.9 / MKX 50-135mm T2.9

Fuji has officially released two new lens mount options for their MK 18-55mm t2.9 and MK 50-135mm t2.9 cinema lenses . The new duo , designed for the Fuji X mount , are released in the same timeframe as the Fuji X-H1 , indicating that Fuji is indeed making a serious push into video. Both The MKX 18-55mm t2.9 and the MK 50-135mm t2.9 – feature 22 glass elements in 17 groups and it has six super ED lens elements and two ED lens elements as well , Both lenses have a 9 bladed iris , allowing for more rounded “bokeh” in your videos . Both lenses feature a minimum aperture of f2.8 and they can be manually stopped down to f22(keep in mind that these lenses are all manual ) . Pricing for the MKX 18-55mm t2.9 is $3,999 while the MK 50-135mm t2.9 costs $4,299 , not bad considering their low price , both lenses will ship in Summer of 2018 . Blackmagic URSA Broadcast -4K broadcasting on a budget

Blackmagic has officially announced the URSA Broadcast - 4K camera . The system , designed on the successful URSA Mini platform is now optimized for Studio and broadcasting environments and therefore it has a smaller 13.056mm x 7.344mm (Somewhat close to the Nikon 1's custom sensor) and a B4. mount for broadcasting lenses (But there is support for PL, EF and Nikon F mounts as well) . The camera , which has an internal carousel ND with 1/4, 1/16th and 1/64th stops works in the same way as the Ursa Mini . The camera records 1080i and goes all the way unto UHD 2160p in DNx145, DNx220X or ProRES with record formats in .Mov or .Mxf. The camera is also capable of recording to two CF cards or 2 SD cards as well . Sharp's new 8C-B60A broadcast camera shoots 8k

Sharp has officially announced their 8C-B60A broadcast capable 8K camera . The camera , which is designed with a custom 33MP Super 35mm sensor is capable of 60fps (10bit - 4.2.2) is capable of recording uncompressed 8K 60fps to SSD drives and even has a SD card to update firmware with , the camera features the Grass Valley HQX Codec (7680×4320 4:2:2 10-bit). The body features built in ND - Clear, 1/4ND, 1/16ND, 1/64ND , a PL mount to adapt lenses to , a 2TB SSD bundle (which allows upto 40 minutes of recording ) and a price tag of 8,800,000 YEN - $ 77495 . RED announced new Monstro 8K VV sensor for Weapon series cameras

RED has officially announced a new sensor upgrade to the RED Weapon 8K series of cinema cameras . The new sensor , dubbed the Monstro 8K VV , promises an insane 14 stops of dynamic range from its 35.4 MP APS-H size sensor . The new sensor , capable of shooting 8K in 60fps , 4K in 30fps and 2K in 120fps in REDCODE Raw ,PRO res , Avid DNxHD/HR and is capable of 300 MB/s .RED is also said to be including their RED enhanced image processing pipeline (IPP2) upgrade which would greatly enhance the workflow , better highlight rolloffs and enhancements overall (Available for all previous Monstro and Helium sensor equipped models as well) . Sony CineAlta Venice brings 6K modular full frame to the cinema world

Sony has been teasing about their 35mm cinema camera for a few months now. The camera , which was said to be a member of  Sony's High End CineAlta series was rumored to bring a whole new sensor category to the lineup which has so far been exclusively Super 35 (APS-H) . And now , after months of speculation , the product is finally official . Say hello to the Sony CineAlta Venice . The Venice , which , as said above , packs a 35mm full frame sensor instead of the industry default  "Super 35" ,the sensor, which is capable of 6k , allows the camera to cater a wider set of requirements including the ability to utilize full frame E mount (or adapted) and PL mount lenses to shoot in Full frame ,  Anamorphic / Spherical and Super 35 modes (The video resolution is 4K in this mode).The E and PL mounts are modular , and they can be swapped easily . Sony offers $1000 rebate on FS5

The FS5 , Sony's entry level cinema style camera has apparently received a $1000 rebate option for every purchase . The special offer , which costs $4,749.00 once you get your mail in rebate back (after you complete a online form and ship a print out to Sony's U.S address - read pdf here ) also includes a Metabones EF to E mount (MK4) adapter which will be shipped once  a online form is filled - read pdf here   . This deal , which would retail for $5649 usually is quite a steal as it basically undercuts every other 4k cinema style camera including the recently announced Canon C200 and Panasonic's new EVA1 5.6k cameras launched last week. source - cinema5D

Sony's CineAlta cinema lineup to get a Full frame option in 2018 .

Sony has a giant lineup of professional  cameras in their arsenal , the range , which includes the flagship CineAlta series .is apparently set to get even bigger thanks to Sony's recent announcement of a Full frame cinema camera 36x24mm) in  2018 . The camera ,(which would fit into the F5/F65 range)  will be able to record content  in the 4:3 aspect ratio 4k and anamorphic  or 17:9 in 3 -pref (Super 35 mode) means that the upcoming FF cinema camera will suit most filming conditions (especially when using external super 35 lenses) . Canon C200 and C200B cinema cameras

Canon has officially anounced its latest Cinema camera - the Canon C200 . The new model , set to be a mid range option between the workhorse C100 Mk2 and the slightly higher end C300 Mk2 , the new C200(and the "Barebones" C200B) offers  balence of 4K and a more compact design allowing the system to be used with a smaller rig system or general use in slightly less ideal conditions where a c100 or c300 will be a bit too large to use . Armed with a 8.85mp Super 35 sensor from the Canon C700 , the new sensor also features  support upto ISO 102,400 and low rolling shutter thanks to faster readout times and the Dual Digic DV6 image processor . Tilta Nucleus M brings wireless lens control for $1200

If you were holding out from buying a wireless focus puller from a three letter company citing pricing , then we have some good news as Tilta is set to anounce its own unit for a mere $1200 . The unit , named the Nucleus M , consists of three motors which controls the focus , the aperture and the zoom of a lens via a space age looking wireless controller which can control them from a distance from even 2km . The rest of the unit includes two grips which is good for a more run and gun shoulder rig . Cooke Anamorphic 75-750mm T4.5

If you are after oval bokkeh , or basically shoot anamorphic video and have thousands to write off your movie set bill , then say hello to the Cooke anamorphic 75-750mm T4.5 (with x2 anamorphic squeeze). Unlike regular anamorphic glass , this 10:1 ratio  glass provides a signature stretched light bokkeh usually seen in high production movies .
