LG Nexus 4 "White" edition - hands on /tour

After countless leaks and speculation the folks from Google and LG finally made the white LG Nexus 4 official. It’s the same Nexus we know and love, with a nice new paint job. After plenty of talk at Google I/O about a white model with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean getting announced we were excited, but it’s still just on 4.2.2, for now at least This morning Google announced the White Nexus 4, and we should be seeing it hit the Play Store with a brand new matching white bumper case starting tomorrow, May 29th. We’ve seen the phone multiple times, and it’s essentially the exact same smartphone, but we’ll talk a look anyways. Obviously as some of you may notice, the device isn’t completely white. Instead the back and sides have a nice rubbery white paint job, while Google opted to keep the front fascia black. Some like it, some don’t, but at least we have the option. Then the same popular bumper case is now available in white and would even look good on that Black Nexus 4. Take a peek at bo...

White Nexus 4 along with Android 4.3 might be launched next month

A new report claims that Google intends to launch its next-gen Android OS version next month alongside a new Nexus 4 version The white Nexus 4 is said to hit the Google Play Store on June 10, at which point Android 4.3 would also be released. Android and Me has apparently managed to get some hands-on time with the white Nexus 4 which appears to be a “carbon copy of the previous Nexus 4, just with a different color casing.” Therefore, this white Nexus 4 model doesn’t appear to be that 32GB Nexus 4 LTE model that appeared in various rumors. We've seen the white Nexus 4 in a bunch of photos in the days leading to Google I/O, with one set of images revealing that the handset spotted at a mobile event in Dubai had the same FCC ID as the regular black version. At the time, we wondered whether this was the upgraded Nexus 4 version we mentioned before, or whether it was a special Google I/O edition meant to arrive in the hands of developers – since then we learned that Google gav...

Google Play Games - Game Center for Android ?

Details of Google Play Games, the Android alternative to Apple’s Game Center, have leaked, with suggestions that the cloud-syncing, leaderboard-scoring, and multiplayer-matchmaking system will debut officially at Google I/O this coming week. Evidence of the refreshed gaming component was unearthed from a prerelease version (v3.1.36) of the Google Play Services APK, with Android Police sifting through the shared files to discover a new “Play Games” feature intended for managing gaming on the Android platform. The Play Services system is the underlying Android component which all games will be able to tap into, allowing them to share a single notifications path, multiplayer gamer matching, leaderboards and achievements records, and more. Unsurprisingly, the multiplayer duties are shared with Google+, with the social network’s circles used to manage who can invite you to play a game, whose achievements you see, and who your own achievements are shared with. Meanwhile, there’s also ...

Mototola X phone might not have mindboggling specs - instead it will "get the job done"

Here in the weekend days before Google I/O 2013, the company’s big developer conference for the year, two new clues leading to a new era in Motorola-made Android smartphones have been added to story called X Phone. The device in question has appeared as an AT&T-supported smartphone in the FCC this weekend as well as in benchmark test results on a publicly viewable archive. This device will likely appear as a developer give-away at the Google convention on Wednesday. The Motorola XT1058 XFON has appeared in benchmark results pointing toward a far less top-of-the-line device than past Google I/O-bound smartphones have been. With a 1280 x 720 pixel 4-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor under the hood, this device is certainly one that would better have suited the crowds of 2012′s convention. A 4-inch display – this is smaller than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the device given away at last year’s Google I/O, using here an amount of pixels that matches that N...

Second gen Nexus 7 will have S4 processor , wuxga display -Analyst

An analyst says that Google will unveil a second-generation Nexus 7 tablet at Google I/O next week sporting superior specs compared to its predecessor, while being equally affordable. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has sent out a research note revealing potential specifications for the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet a few days ahead of Google I/O 2013. Still made by Asus, the new Nexus 7 would offer the following specs and features: 7-inch LTPS display with 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor (APQ8064) 5-megapixel camera HD front-facing camera Wi-Fi Bluetooth NFC 4000mAh battery with Qi wireless charging support Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Assuming the information is accurate – and we can never guarantee that with analysts – we’re looking at several upgrades compared to the current Nexus 7. The second-gen version would sport a high-resolution display, the same kind of processor found inside the Nexus 4 smartphone, but also a...

Google Glass goes strict - violation of the terms of use will make your device obsolete

Google’s Glass Explorer Edition headsets will come with a set of usage, tech, and app limitations at odds with the freedom Android developers are used to, including blanket permission to remotely strip out functionality from the wearable computer. Glass, which Google announced had begun shipping in partial numbers from Monday, comes with a new Terms of Sale agreement as part of the setup process, with strict limits on who you can allow to use your headset, and how Google can update it to remove features it may decide are dangerous or simply not in keeping with how it feels the wearable should evolve. Would-be international developers have already voiced their frustration about Google’s decision to limit availability of the Glass Explorer Edition to those in the US only; even the Glass companion app, freshly released into the Play store, is geo-restricted to those in the US. However, the conditions of use for the developer headset are even stricter than normal: “Unless otherwise a...

Google X phone might come in a Do-It-Yourself style arrangement

Ever wanted to be able to build your own smartphone, just as you’d be able to order custom desktops and laptops from certain manufacturers? A new report suggests that Google and Motorola could soon offer such a feature in its upcoming X Phone. With just a few hours left until the Galaxy S4 gets official, this new X Phone report comes our way via Android and Me, which had access to some inside information regarding this upcoming Google Android handset. Obviously, this is just a rumor at this time, and we can’t confirm anything just yet, but the X Phone is said to have some interesting features. Google is apparently interested in creating a new brand capable to fight the Samsung Galaxy brand, the report says. The phone could be launched in June after the Google I/O event, and will be available to potential buyers via an online store, most likely the Google Play Store. Despite being a high-end device, the phone will reportedly have a heavily subsidized price to attract more buyers...

Google I/O Easter eggs everywhere

The search giant never runs of out fun ways to hide Easter eggs in its products. With this year’s Google I/O conference taking place in May and the registration opening in less than a week, the event’s official website has been updated and packed with plenty of teasers. You can check out the official Google I/O 2013 website here . What seems to be a simple blue-and-red logo is actually interactive. Clicking on either I or O displays a binary code at the bottom of the page. Generate a correct combination of up to 8 digits and the code turns green. Shortly afterwards, you’ll be forwarded to a new page. If you hit the wrong sequences, the code otherwise turns red and you’ll have to try again. You may want to just go directly to the pages with unique interactions (such as developers.google.com/events/io/experiment-pong) and save yourself the trouble of finding the right binary numbers, but doing so will only redirect you back to the vanilla or main page. Anyway, here are a couple o...

Android " Key Lime Pie" to use Linux 3.8 Kernel ?

With the 2013 Google I/O event closing in fast , the rumors for the next version of android is starting to rise , Although we are no sure whether Google will call it Android 4.3 or 5.0 we are very certain that it is going to be under the delicious codename "Key Lime Pie " . A website called Phoronix speculates that it may be too early to release a Key Lime Pie OS based on Linux 3.8 given that Android 5.0 is expected to be unveiled in less than three months from now at Google's I/O event ,but while “the work is labeled as ‘experimental,’” it seems “to be evolving fast,” which sounds interesting, although we have no way of confirming what Key Lime Pie will be based on at this time. Jelly Bean is based on Linux 3.0 kernel, with Google also maintaining other versions including 3.3 and 3.4, with Android 4.2.2  for Nexus 4 based on the latter. The same source details some of the improvements in Linux 3.8 kernel (see second Source link below) including “Samsung Exynos DRM a...
