RED announces its latest flagship cinema camera - the V-Raptor ST

RED cinema has announced their latest flagship camera - the V-Raptor ST 8K VV. The camera, based around RED's Large format sensor packs a 35MP resolution and it can shoot 8K at 120fps max /7K 175fps/6K at 200 fps and 2K at 600 fps. The camera also has 17+ stops of Dynamix range and thanks to the RF mount, newer - cinema ready lenses could be adapted. The rest of the specs include multiple output for external monitors and recording devices and the camera can output CF express. And considering that Red cameras sell as body only, compatible external monitor/viewfinder grips and battery packs are sold separately.  Pricing starts at $24500 for the body and $29,579 for a kit which includes a V mount battery kit, DSMC3 compatible display, CF slot and other accessories to start with. RED and FOXCONN to work on “affordable” 8K solutions

With 4K slowly becoming the new norm in modern cameras , resolutions such as 8K are probably going to be the next high-end format of future camera systems as the demand for high end content from both content creators and content viewers are on the rise .Red , a household name when it comes to cinema cameras is apparently rumored(By Nikkei) to be in talks with tech industrial giant – Foxconn to produce affordable 8K systems for the general public . And According to Foxconn’s Chairman Terry Gou “We will make cameras that will shoot professional-quality films in 8K resolution but at only a third of current prices and a third of current camera sizes,” indicating that such an idea is not really that far off . Panavison Millennium DXL2 8K announced

Panavision has officially announced their latest 8K capable camera system . The Millennium DXL2 8K , designed around a RED MONSTRO 8K VV CMOS sensor , the camera shoots 8K 8192 x 4320 full sensor 60fps and 8K 2:4:1 in 8192 x 3456 in 75fps Super35 .The RED sensor , capable of 16 stops of dynamic range and has a native base ISO of 1600 . The camera also has a new color science - Light Iron Color 2 and is capable of working with all popular color gamuts . Pricing details are not available at the time of writing . RED announced new Monstro 8K VV sensor for Weapon series cameras

RED has officially announced a new sensor upgrade to the RED Weapon 8K series of cinema cameras . The new sensor , dubbed the Monstro 8K VV , promises an insane 14 stops of dynamic range from its 35.4 MP APS-H size sensor . The new sensor , capable of shooting 8K in 60fps , 4K in 30fps and 2K in 120fps in REDCODE Raw ,PRO res , Avid DNxHD/HR and is capable of 300 MB/s .RED is also said to be including their RED enhanced image processing pipeline (IPP2) upgrade which would greatly enhance the workflow , better highlight rolloffs and enhancements overall (Available for all previous Monstro and Helium sensor equipped models as well) . A RED Weapon 8K (BRAIN) with the Monstro 8k VV sensor is said to be $79,500  with upgrades available for Carbon fiber RED Weapon customers at $29,500 . RED HYDROGEN ONE - Red announces Android smartphone with "holographic" display

RED has just announced their new Hydrogen One - Android powered smartphone . The phone , which is basically a new product category to RED who mainly focused on high end modular cinema cameras with starting prices of $6000 for the cheapest model . The new Hydrogen One , which follows their chemical naming scheme reserved for their RED sensor equipped cameras is said to bring a 5.7" display with "holographic" 3D ,VR and AR support which does mean that the RED Hydrogen may have a Dual camera system similar to most of the "peasant" smartphones today . The specs , are still kept under wraps as the product is only available for retail in the first quarter of 2018 , but so far ,the brochure does indicate that the phone uses 3D stereoscopic speakers (which we think are front firing ) and will provide an immersive experience with their "H30 algorithm " which is said to give a lossless , live playback with sound altered to the content being viewed on the ...

RED to anounce a new modular camera system

BMPCC via - Newshooter/Lockport RED - a company that has produced many great cinema camera systems is apparently rumored to be working on a modular platform which may be announced on the 6th of July 9next month) . The new camera system , which according to Newsshooter  , is said to be a new product category which wont rival current red cameras in any way . Although we are not sure of what they meant by it , some hints do shine on the fact that the new camera will be a small , modular camera system (similar to Blackmagic Pocket cinema camera) . Currently , RED is working on custom Super 35 sensors with PL or EF (and F formerly) mounts and therefore having a lower tier product below the RED raven (for drones and hand held gimbals) with the highly successful Micro 43 sensor (same as the BMPCC) or a custom sensor (the Newsshooter article listed below has ore info on that btw) will be a good move as it will open up the market for new cus...

RED Helium 8K gets highest score on DXOmark

If you ever wanted to debate camera specs online as a keyboard warrior or in a physical camera standoff ,chances are that DXOmark is probably on your list for getting specs as they provide a comprehensive test on camera parameters including sensor performance . The site , which has tested many camera brands and hundreds of individual models have officially declared the best of the best ,say hello to the winner of DXOmark's sensor test - the Red Helium 8K . Dxomark The Helium 8K - a camera equipped with RED's custom super 35 sensor is said to be rated for a total score of 108 - the highest achieved by a camera to this date ,this score is higher than the second best score of 101 achieved by RED's Dragon system and 98/97 points achieved by Sony's A7RII and the Nikon D810 respectively .The new Helium 8K system is said to have greater color depth , a higher pixel arrangement and a better dynamic range than the predecessor .
