Made with a unapolegitically plastic design , The MiPad is Xiaomi's latest -near clone of Apple's iPhone 5C and iPad Mini . Xiaomi - a Chinese smartphone manufacturer has a good track record of copyright infringement and getting away with it . The MiPad is no exception and the design and color cues give us a rough idea of how the device manages to infringe on set design laws. This morning Apple has officially brought on a 2nd generation of their popular iPad mini tablet, complete with Retina display. This version of the iPad mini works with a body and presentation extremely similar to the original, working with a physical appearance not all that unlike the iPad mini’s first edition. This iPad mini will be hitting the market with at least two different colorways – a darker gray and a lighter silver / white, and will be appearing aside the new 5th generation iPad – the iPad Air as well . Apple will hold an invitation-only event on October 22nd to show off its new iPads, as well as the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks release, according to a report from All Things D’s John Paczkowski. That timing seems just right for the new iPads to make an appearance — last year’s event was held on October 23rd — and Apple has previously slated OS X Mavericks for a ‘fall’ release. It also makes some sense for Apple to talk about the Mac pro, also slated for fall, and to hopefully deliver us a release date. The new iPads will include a full-size iPad and new iPad mini. It’s unclear whether Apple will up the Mini to Retina resolution this time around, but that seems fairly likely. With the next Apple event coming on quick, the folks at KGI have suggested that both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 will be coming with not just updated casings, but an updated back-facing camera too. The 5th generation iPad has been predicted to be appearing in bulk, so says KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, while the iPad mini 2 will be in slightly short supply due to the lack of full-speed-ahead retina display production. Meanwhile both devices will be appearing, says Ming-Chi, with 8-megapixel back-facing cameras in tow. It’s suggested that both the iPad mini 2 and the iPad 5 will be produced in bulk by the time 2014 rolls around, but before then (according to Rueters), numbers will be restricted for the smaller of the two devices. When it comes to leaks of iPad mini 2 hardware, we haven’t exactly been left wanting. Indeed, along with the iPad 5, we’ve had plenty of opportunities to check out components attributed to this year’s mini refresh. While we’ve had enough chances to see the tablet’s rear panel, more recently rumors have been talking about what might be happening around front, with the suggestion that Apple could be giving its new tablets the same Touch ID fingerprint scanner we find in the iPhone 5S. Today we might just get our first evidence confirming that idea, as well as a look at a possible gold version of the iPad mini 2.
