Canon EOS R3 is official

Unless you have been living under a rock, its no secret that mirrorless cameras have basically ended the era of DSLR's, but if you were a working professional who shot sports-action-wildlife chances are that, though compelling, Mirrorless cameras looked and felt fragile when compared to workhorse cameras such as the 1DX or Nikon's D5 and didn't have the same endurance or ergonomics of the top tier DSLR's. Canon being a brand which has taken a different approach to Mirrorless (unlike Sony and their angular/flat design language) has now basically made a compelling offering to those who would otherwise have not considered switching to mirrorless with the announcement of the new EOS R3 - a model that sits above the current EOS R5 and is almost en par with the status held by the EOS 1DX Mk3 but Canon does say the R3 is a tier below the 1DX and therefore we can expect a proper flagship someday in the future (EOS R1?). The camera, unlike the top tier 1DX Mk3 is lighter than th...

More Canon EOS R3 images leak out

Canon has basically stepped up their game when it comes to its new RF mount. The new EOS R3- which is said to be Canon's Mid level Professional body camera which will kind mirror the existing 7D DSLR lineup in functionality and pave the way for an eventual flagship EOS R which would mirror the 1DX as the king of sports-action and wildlife. The EOS R3 specifications are not official as of yet, but we suspect it to carry commonly found features such as dual pixel AF and a Stacked sensor design as well as a perviously unavailable Eye-control AF which lets the camera move focus by tracking the user's eye (The last Canon cameras to feature this technology was released in the 80s) allowing users to track and shoot moving objects - an indication that this camera is somewhat of a Mirrorless full frame 7D equivalent (minus the APSC sensor) . The R3 is also said to feature a rugged design as well as full weather sealing and retail for around $6000 at launch. Till such time, enjoy these l...

Canon's upcoming 7D Mark III rumored for a March 2018 launch .

Rumors speculate that Canon is set to announce the 7D Mark III DSLR camera in March of 2018 (next year) . The camera , a successor to the somewhat aged 7D MK II is set to challenge the Nikon D500 in the Sports , action and wildlife segments by featuring high frame rates , good dynamic range and most importantly , 4K video recording with Dual pixel AF . Canonrumors  (see link below for more info) mentions the addition of Canon's C-LOG into the 7D mk3 , although the addition of such features will surely benefit users , Canon is known to deliberately leave out some features as it can cannibalize sales of the higher tier model (example - Leaving out 4K and a second card slot on the 6D mk2) , but in the case of the 7D - the flagship model in its APS-C lineup . The addition of 4K is probably going to happen as its direct rival - the D500 also features it (But we don't expect to see C Log) . The 7D MK3 is also said to feature illuminated buttons , this is a plus point as the 7D ...

Canon EOS 6D MKII is official

Canon has officially announced their latest entry level full frame DSLR camera . The new model , based on the previous 6D is given the title - 6D Mk 2 in Canon's traditional naming scheme . Starting from the design , the new camera still uses a hybrid metal and polycarbonate frame and is apparently the lightest 35mm DSLR in Canon camera in production yet . The new camera also has a fully articulating touchscreen display a - la Canon 80D (but at 3") . The body is also weather resistant. Switching over to the internals , we can clearly see ( based on previously leaked info )that the new 6Dmk2 has major improvements over its predecessor from 2012 in the photography department . For starters ,the biggest complaint of the 6D was its AF (more like the lack of it) , but the new model has 45 all cross type AF points  and is also assisted by Canon's excellent PDAF - phase detection AF which brings very significant upgrades over the one it replaces , the megapixels have als...
