Samsung Z1 comes with Tizen for $95

Samsung's own Tizen OS wasn't well received in the flagship department but there is hope that Samsung might be able to pull it off as the company already has a established customer base in developing countries . The new Samsung Z1 , launched in India is said to be a hit as most phones at that price bracket are either very poorly made or running a old version of Android ,the Tizen smartphone . which is a operating system developed by Intel and Samsung focuses on a lag free experience and good battery performance while supporting ported Android apps . The Samsung z1 -priced at $95 packs a Dual core processor , 768mb of Ram and a 1500 mAh battery , although the specs are bad for anything running Android , Tizen can easily work with not much of a problem . The phone is expected to go on sale with carriers including Aircel and Reliance , these companies are said to offer 3G packages and 500 mb of data for 6 months for customers who buy this phone . Display - 4" 480x800 TFT ...

Samsung Gear S gets Opera mini as its first 3rd party browser

Most of us who bought or hope to buy a smartwatch consider the wrist wearables to be accessories to our smartphones which cancel the need for us to  pull our smartphones everytime someone sends a text or notification while on the go .Although smartwatches are "smart" considering that they can control the tethered smartphone via bluetooth , none of the current crop of smartwatches are smart enough to beat Samsungs phone-on-a-wrist smartwatch - aka Samsung Gear S .The gear s has all the basic "phone" features and it even has its own appstore a-la Tizen . With basic features such as phone , messaging and now even a 3rd party browser via Opera Mini makes the watch a all in one micro-smartphone . The Opera Mini browser - or should we call it "Opera Micro"   is said to be optimized to finger presses on the 2" display . The Opera browser has some features such as speed dial that can save most visited pages , the app is available on the Gear App Store which...

Samsung Gear S

Samsung has a long tradition of making crazy ideas happen, the Gear S is no exception as it is probably the first consumer smartwatch to offer 3G  and GPS capabilities without being linked to another device . The stand-alone 3G smartwatch , which looks a bit like a stretched out Samsung Gear fit , will basically handle almost all the basic tasks of your phone as this is powered not by Android wear , but Samsung's very own Tizen . The Tizen OS , which already runs on almost all the Gear smartwatches has a good selection of apps so you won't feel bad .The display , which is a curved AMOLED , has a resolution of 480x360 and is 2" in size . The watch comes with 512MB of RAM ,4GB of local storage and a 1.2 Ghz Dual core processor . The watch features 2G /3G quadBand ,Wifi 802.11a/b/g/n ,Bluetooth  4.1 ,USB 2.0 for data , GPS and GLONASS .The Gear S will come with a kind of awkward 300mAh battery , and considering that this is a 3G "phone" that might possibly turnou...

MWC 2014 - Samsung's new Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo welcomes Tizen OS ,leaves the Galaxy trademark behind

Samsung Gear 2 Samsung has brought some big changes with the latest additions of its Gear smartwatch lineup. Not only will the new devices be thinner and lighter than the original, but will also feature a special wearable version of Samsung’s Tizen OS rather than Android. The new Samsung Gear 2 (no more Galaxy in the name as it’s no longer an Android device) comes with the same 1.63" Super AMOLED display of 320 x 320 screen resolution, but with a processor beefed up from a dual-core 800 MHz to 1GHz. The new gears bring a better set of health sensors including heart rate monitor, and an Infrared port for remote control of your home appliances. The internal storage and RAM remain limited like the last edition, and the battery has been downgraded to 300mAh (from 315mAh), which is a bit worrisome as battery life was one of the major drawbacks of the Galaxy Gear. Hopefully, Samsung has optimized Tizen OS to be more battery efficient than Android. Gear 2 Neo The new ...

Samsung to show off new Android and Windows hardware on the 20th of June

The next wave of Samsung devices is washing in as a London event announced earlier today clues the public in, miniature photo style. The Samsung Galaxy Note III will quite likely be up for announcement as it’s been appearing in benchmarks here and there and has historically appeared not long after a Galaxy smartphone hero device in the past. Meanwhile the company has Windows 8 notebooks and a brand new Galaxy Camera to show as well. This Samsung event is sure to be packed with announcements that expand the company’s collection of Android and Windows devices with a real possibility for Tizen appearing on the tail end. Guesses surrounding the actual invite card have centered on these three items: 1. Galaxy Note III 2. ATIV Ultrabooks (Series 7) 3. Galaxy S 4 ZOOM The third entry has appeared in UAProf listings, passed on by Mobileaks as a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Camera, here coming with software features that mix it in well with the GALAXY S 4 lineup. Samsung to release High End Tizen powered phone this year

We’ve heard this before, but it has now been confirmed – Samsung will be releasing a Tizen-based smartphone this year. The information comes from Samsung’s Executive Vice President of its mobile business, who offered the information in Seoul earlier this week. The handset will be very high-end, according to his statement. Said Samsung’s Lee Young Hee, “The Tizen phone will be out in August or September, and this will be in the high-end category. The device will be the best product equipped with the best specifications.” Unfortunately, no other details were dropped about the handset, such as what these “best specifications” will be. This comes at a time when Samsung has seen a huge increase in handset sales, the vast majority of which run the Android mobile operating system. The move to launch a Tizen-based handset will be a step towards reducing its reliance on the Google OS and will provide consumers with another option. We saw various Tizen rumors crop up throughout 2012, with ...

Samsung pulls plug on Bada

Samsung is giving up on the Bada OS but instead of sweeping its remains under the carpet, the Korean manufacturer will integrate its Bada OS into the Tizen OS project. This is first-hand information comeing from Hong Won-pyo, President of Samsung's Media Solutions Center. Though smartphones running Bada won't be able to upgrade to Tizen when it's ready, the latter will be backwards compatible with Bada apps, which is good news for every new OS with a low profile app catalog. Following Nokia's decision not to support MeeGo, the Tizen OS emerged as the open source project to realize all that exciting potential. Samsung are clearly hoping to use the platform in a bid to set themselves apart from the Android and Windows Phone crowd. (via GSMArena)
