HTC Desire Eye is official

HTC's rumored Desire Eye smartphone is official , the new Desire Eye is a camera centric smartphone aimed at the trendy "selfie" fans as the front facing camera features a whooping 13 megapixels with dual /two tone LED flash . The phone does retain the signature Boomsound speakers as well , but they are not as prominent as the large camera sensor up front . The phone , unlike previous Desire versions is not a cut version of the flagship , but instead it is a flagship phone that can stand on its own feet . The phone , unlike the M8 is IPX7 water and dust resistant and it can survive a small immersion upto 1 meter  for 30 minutes under water . The phone is made out of HTC's signature poly-carbonate , and it comes in  blue , red and white . The phone will go on sale in October with U.S carrier sales going to At&T only . IFA 2014 - Samsung Galaxy Tab Active features a drop resistant body , and removable battery

Samsung launched a few "active" rugged products last year , this year , the company has re-introduced the brand with the Galaxy tab Active . Basically , the tablet is still a Tab 4 8.0 underneath . The tablet features a rugged design that can make the tablet survive a drop from 1.2meters and the tablet is certified for IP67 dust and waterproof ratings . The tablet , unlike others , features a industry -first removable battery . The tablet also comes with Samsung's C -Stylus . Samsung's Ice Bucket challenge might have accidentally backfired ...

The ALS Ice Bucket challenge is probably the biggest internet sensation since the Harlem shake , the process , which involves the participant(s) pouring water with ice cubes while naming 3 other competitors while donating some amount for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in the process, at first the competition was reserved for the elite , but soon after everyone and their brother took up the challenge as a form of entertainment and all the while managed to generate $80 million for  ALS research.Samsung , which spends billions on advertising annually , decided to use the event to promote the Galaxy S5's waterproofness by doing its own icebucket challnge last Friday . MWC 2014 - Panasonic 5 Toughpad

Panasonic is adding a new rugged mobile device to its toughpad line. The new device is called the Panasonic 5. It features a 5-inch screen and aims directly at workers in the field that need a device that can survive the rough work environments and the outdoors. Panasonic is aiming the new 5-inch handheld device at emergency services, public safety, and for use in industrial and factory environments. The 5-inch toughpad will run Windows Embedded 8 Handheld for the operating system and will be able to run Android as well. Panasonic says that the 5" toughpad will provide a market leading battery life and the battery will have hot swap capability. The 5-inch screen can be used while wearing gloves and is designed to be readable in direct sunlight. Accessories and peripherals can be added to the device using external fixing screws or an internal USB port. CES 2014 - Panasonic's military grade Toughpad 7" Windows Tablet

Coming out of CES 2014, Panasonic has introduced their latest model Toughpad. This one is arriving as the FZ-M1, and similar to other models in the lineup, this one is fully-rugged. Basically, another waterproof, dustproof and shockproof tablet. The FZ-M1 sports a 7-inch display and will arrive running Windows 8.1 Pro. The power comes by way of a 4th generation Intel Core i5 vPro processor, which coincidentally has this being touted as the first rugged 7-inch tablet with a fanless design. That bit allowed the tablet to meet the IP65 standards which protects it against rain and dust. Panasonic also has this model certified for MIL-STD-810G and ANSI 12.12.1. The latter means it is certified for use in incendiary environments. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 and it is 10-point capacitive multitouch with an available (and optional) stylus pen.
