MWC 2016 - Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4S

Alcatel unveiled their idol 4 series of smartphone at MWC (today) . The two smartphones are basically successors to the popular Onetouch idol 3 launched last year and this year they are back with a bang (for your buck as well) .The company , owned by TCL has changed a few things around this time and so from now on Alcatel will not be using the "Onetouch" name on its products in order to make things short and sweet . The new smartphones feature a familiar metal and glass design element from last year and it also retains the popular multi orientation functionality we saw last year with the idol 3 (this lets you use the phone even upside down as the whole UI changes as the front firing dual speakers double up as microphones as well (Alcatel has added two rear speakers making the total figure to 4 speakers) . The idol 4 smartphone  retains Alcatel's 13mp rear camera while the 4s has a 16mp one , both feature a 8mp front facing one along with a front facing flash has be...

CES 2015 - Alcatel Onetouch Pixi

Alcatel has a long history of launching a plethora of devices at the two main trade shows - CES and MWC . This year , the portfolio is a little bit shorter than previous years but surprisingly Alcatel has managed to grab some attention due to the launch of a new Smartwatch which , at $149 is quite a steal and a new line of affordable 4G capable smartphones that run three mobile operating systems with no change to hardware or price The new Pixi 3 series is Alcatel's latest attempt at launching affordable handsets , the phones are said to be OS -agnostic - which basically means the hardware has no speciality operating system . Windows Phone 8.1 , Android 4.4 and Firefox OS are the three selected operating systems for the Pixi series .The 3.5" model however is restricted to 3G but the models with 4.0...

CES 2015 - Alcatel OneTouch Watch

Alcatel has a long history of launching a plethora of devices at the two main trade shows - CES and MWC . This year , the portfolio is a little bit shorter than previous years but surprisingly Alcatel has managed to grab some attention due to the launch of a new Smartwatch   which , at $149 is quite a steal . Armed with some good looks the watch looks a lot like a imitation Moto 360 . Like the Moto 360 , this has a 1.2" semi- circular watch face which kind of adds a bit of insult as this is aimed to be a affordable alternative to the Android wear platform . The watch , as mentioned , uses Alcatel's own software which works on Android (4.3 upwards) and iOS (6 and above) . The watch has a heart rate sensor , step counter and even a acclerometer + gyroscope and NFC for pairing with Android . The iOS pairing will allow Apple users to get notifications about phone calls , messages and Email  while Android users will get to add more customizations to each notificat...

IFA 2013 - Alcatel One Touch Hero is one Jack of All Trades ...

In what must be IFA 2013′s best candidate for “Jack of All Trades” smartphone device is the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH HERO (all in caps, to be proper), with a built-in stylus, E Ink cover, and Pico Projector accessory. This device is like a cherry-picked do-it-all smartphone made to take on every odd ability smartphones have been graced with over the past two years. Alcatel presents in the HERO a device that – believe it or not – may just be able to live up to its name. The Alcatel One Touch Hero (we’ll be calming down on the caps for the rest of this article, for sanity’s sake) brings on a 6-inch display with Full HD (that’s 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) with full Oleophobic coating across its glass covering to avoid fingerprints. This device also works with “full lamination” as the other Alcatel device today was revealed to have.Inside you’ve got an unnamed quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM with 16GB of internal memory OR 8GB of internal memory. If you’re working with the smaller stor...

One touch Scribe Pro leaks out- 6 inch diplay , LED smartcover and stylus for $300

Alcatel introduced the One Touch Scribe, and Scribe X models, alongside the One Touch Idol Ultra, at the beginning of 2013, at CES. We haven’t heard too many thing about these devices but we’re now hearing that the company might be working on a six-inch phablet (bumping the screen size from five-inches in the devices named above). The image above purportedly describes the OneTouch Scribe Pro, with a six-inch display of yet unknown resolution. Accompanying that is a quad-core processor with speeds of 1.5GHz, a 13.1-megapixel camera, 3,400mAh battery and dual-SIM operation. There’s also a stylus and a very interesting flip cover concept with built-in LEDs. August (this month) is rumored as an availability date and the price is shocking: $300, in Hong Kong.

Alcatel OneTouch Idol mini leaks out

Ah, Alcatel – who would have thought that this particular company has managed to last this long in the smartphone market? While Alcatel’s market share in the world of smartphones can be said to be miniscule – so much so that you can ignore them, they have not given up on the battle just yet. In fact, earlier this year, we have seen our fair share of handsets that fall under the Alcatel One Touch Idol family, including the One Touch Idol X and the One Touch Idol Ultra which was in with a shout to be the thinnest Android-powered smartphone in the market, too. Well, to take a cue from the rest of the other smartphone manufacturers out there, Alcatel has decided to work on a One Touch Idol Mini handset – or at least, according to the leaked press render from serial leaksters @evleaks as you can see above. Unfortunately, no hardware specifications were attached to the leaked press render that you see above, but considering how Alcatel hardly dukes it out with the rest in the high end ma...
