Dell Venue 7 and 8 hopes to give the Nexus 7 a run for its money

With a gush of product releases this week the folks at Dell have come with more than just Windows – they’ve got a set of Dell Venue tablets running Android as well. Here we’re seeing the Dell 7 come with a 7-inch display while the Venue 8 works with work with an 8-inch screen, both of them fully touch-enabled and both of them appearing with optional 4G connectivity. What’s key with these releases for the company is making certain they’ll be able to compete with the most popular tablet on the market today – the Nexus 7 from Google. Dell has not be particularly successful with Android tablets recently – mostly because they’ve not released an Android tablet on a massive scale for a very, very long time. Here with the Dell Venue 8 and 7 though, they may be setting themselves up for a quick victory. Supposing the market is in the mood for yet another Android tablet in the first place, that is. The Dell Venue 7 will go into battle direct with the Nexus 7 with a price that’s more than j...

HP unveils 5 new tablets

HP Slate 7 Extreme First up, we have the Slate 7 Extreme, a 7-inch Tegra 4-powered tablet with a 1280 x 800 resolution. The handset also has a 5MP rear cam, a VGA front cam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even a stylus. Sounds pretty familiar, right? That’s because the Slate 7 Extreme is actually based on the Tegra Note reference tablet that Nvidia announced just yesterday. HP Slate 7 HD While the first of HP’s new tablet is really just a rebranded Nvidia device, the Slate 7 HD is a ‘true’ HP tablet and in many ways seems quite similar to the older HP Slate 7. Here you’ll find a 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display, a Marvell PXA986 CPU, Beats Audio, a front and back cam, microSD and a battery that is rated for about 9 hours of life. The Slate 7 HD will also come in a 3G/4G model, which will offer 200MB of free 4G data via T-Mobile’s network for a period of two years. HP Slate 10 HD The HP Slate 10 HD is a low-end 10-inch Android tablet, with the same 1280 x 800 resolution as the smalle...

Apple's event today might feature the iPhone 5S ,5C ,new version of iOS and a whole new face for investor relations

To readers paying close attention to press reports, there may not be many surprises Tuesday when Apple (AAPL) hosts its big September three-ring circus for analysts and the media. The critics will be unforgiving if the event's tentpole announcements don't include: The Phone 5S , a speedier iPhone 5, probably with fingerprint recognition for ID purposes, possibly with near-field communication (NFC) technology for buying stuff in stores. The iPhone 5C , a plastic-bodied iPhone that comes in colors and is slower, less powerful, lower-res and less expensive (e.g. $400 plus or minus). The release of iOS 7 , the first top-to-bottom redesign of the face the iPhone shows the world, complete with new metaphors, new light sources, a Pandora knock-off and a look designed to make Samsung's smartphones feel old fashioned. New programming and new tricks for Apple TV, Steve Jobs' final "hobby" by which he hoped to someday disrupt the entertainment industry. Distribu...

Next Nexus 7 Synthetic Benchmarks leak out , S4 pro with 2GB ram runs the show

This evening, the new Nexus 7 was spotted in a couple shots posted by a Reddit user, complete with packaging and a timestamp. A few short hours later, the folks over at Android Police have produced a full roster of specifications and benchmarks for the 7-inch slate, giving the most detailed look at the upcoming Nexus 7 yet. The Nexus 7 is codenamed Razor, and according to the benchmarks features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 display, as various leaks have suggested. With the bar on the screen, the actual resolution works out to 1200 x 1824 pixels. Under the hood, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. Andreno 320 is pegged for the GPU. Also as leaks have suggested, the slate runs Android 4.3, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out what exactly the changes that come with that entail. As far as the hardware goes, the new Nexus 7 is pretty much on par with the Nexus 4, although the Quadrant benchmarks for the slate show it scoring a bit hig...

Next generation Nexus 7 will pack some awesome specs for the buck - as revealed by this FCC certificate

A few weeks ago at Google I/O some of us were expecting new hardware, but the only new hardware that was unveiled during the event was a Samsung Galaxy S4 with stock Android, so we are still waiting on a new Nexus device and the Asus Nexus 7 should be one of the first devices to receive an upgrade. There is however some good news, because we spotted a new ASUS tablet at the FCC that is running on Android 4.3, which is expected shortly, and some other decent specifications, making it a serious iPad Mini competitor. The Asus K008/K009 stopped by at the Bluetooth SIG last week, where it was certified for Bluetooth 4.0 and the software version number made it clear it was running the unreleased version of Android (4.3). This new tablet features a 7-inch 1080p or 1920 x 1200 display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) and an Adreno 320 GPU. Last year this system-on-a-chip was mainly used for high-end smartphones and tablets. The device also has 3950mAh battery, 32GB of storage,...

8GB Nexus refurbished models for $139.99

If you’re looking for a sweet deal on the Google Nexus 7, the 8GB model of the tablet is available on 1saleaday for $139.99. 1saleaday is selling factory refurbished models, which you can’t get from Google anymore. $139.99 will get you the Nexus 7, a 90-day warranty, a micro-USB cable and an AC adapter. Some people will, of course, be hesitant to purchase a factory refurbished product. Arguably though, it’s better to get a refurbished product over a new unit considering that the product is thoroughly tested to make sure the refurb is functioning well. The deal, at the time of this writing, only lasts another one and a half hours, so you better act fast ! (via- AndroidAuthority,1Saleday)
