Nokia's got to go ......Microsoft to rename its smartphones as "Microsoft Lumia"

If you glanced over the headline , this probably might sound a bit stale for you , but news of Microsoft renaming the once proud Finnish company is now inevitable .News provided by Microsoft tells us that they are planning to go ahead with "Microsoft Lumia " with the old brand scrubbed off . This move is not sudden because Microsoft was already running beta on the conversion , first phase eradicated all of Nokia's former "featurephone" and "Android based smartphone divisions along with the majority of its staff and factories , the companies website(s) were also diverted to Microsoft and so now if you go visit a particular model , the device goes under the Microsoft Umbrella . Such a renaming process will have some effect in the companies marketshare at first , but after some time , people will be forced to either one of the "three horse race" platforms so making everything under the name "Microsoft" will give the company some va...

Nokia UK says hello to its Microsoft overlords , website redirected towards Redmond

Thing's weren't going well for Nokia since the N-Series hit the Axe . The company , which was one of the first companies to use Windows Phone was struggling to keep its head above water until it was fully transferred to Microsoft early this year .  Even with its full commitment to Windows Phone , the company was still a bit of a identity crisis to its owner  Microsoft who wanted all their products  to have their name on it . As seen a few weeks ago , Microsoft is slowly working its way to axe the Nokia brand itself , and so far , leaked front panels and documents might hold testament as the once proud brand fades into the pages of history . The Nokia company , which maintains its own websites are now showing the first symptoms of Microsoftation as the Nokia UK website has been fully absorbed into Microsoft .com . As of now , the UK website is the only victim , but others will follow suit as the brand morphs into "Microsoft Lumia " which means that devices not runnin...

Will you quit your job for a $130 Lumia 630 ? Microsoft asks Chinese employees .

Microsoft has recently come under fire after they declared that 18000 employees will be sent home  by the end of the year . The company , which absorbed 12500 employees from Nokia after the company purchased the once successful handset manufacturer , gave the said employees a sour taste after their ex-CEO gave them a lengthy leaving letter explaining Microsoft's vision for the future and how they plan to fire them . The latest incident involves Microsoft offering Chinese employees of the company a free Lumia 630 if they willingly quit their job , The Lumia 630 , which is a low end Windows Phone which sells for about $130 is said to be a part of a resignation package aimed for those who want to leave willingly . The company ,which has a long history of poor decisions that affect them negatively will surely get this event added to their bad book as well . Written by Rakitha for MasHD Source - WPCentral

Nokia Lumia 530 - cost cutting gone too far?

Nokia has been going through quite a change after it was acquired by Microsoft . The handset manufacturer recently axed its Android and Asha divisions along with 12500 jobs in its new strategy of cost cutting , this strategy has however  managed to effect the way the company designs and introduces new handsets as the newer models tend to be slightly underpowered compared to their predecessors . Take the new Nokia Lumia 530 for example , the phone , which is the technical replacement to the Nokia 520/525 by theory should be equipped with better specs (like what Nokia did with the X2 before it was axed) ,but instead , some of the phones much needed features such as hd video , a IPS display and ram has been halved in favor of the new Windows Phone 8.1 software version and a slightly faster Snapdragon processor . At first glance , the phone gives you the feeling of "Oh no , what has Microsoft Done to Nokia" but when you compare the specs to the predecessor(s) the slight bump in s...

Microsoft puts Nokia X platform and Asha series to rest , company to lay off 18000 employees as well

Nokia/Microsoft has decided to send the Nokia X and its entire family of AOSP (Android) as well as the S40 based Asha feature phones  to the axe .This move comes right next to the biggest layoff of Microsoft's employee force with 18,000 employees scheduled to be sent home  . First off , we have the over hyped Nokia X line of Android devices . The Nokia X platform ,developed by Microsoft/Nokia was built on top of  AOSP(Android open source platform)  and this meant that Google services such as the App store , maps , mail and apps like Youtube were replaced by ones made by Microsoft (which didn't work well). The Nokia X lineup was largely ill equipped and underpowered to the meet the demands of the power hungry smartphone consumers , who expected a lot from a Nokia running Android , and this armed with the lack of a dedicated home and menu button ,camera flash , front camera and a imitation -windows phone feel gave people a reason to turn away from the devi...
