Samsung has unveiled their flagship smartphone for 2017 . The S8 and S8+ - the successors to last year's S7 and S7 Edge handsets are now officially here to reclaim Samsung's smartphone dominance which was somewhat tarnished by Samsung's Note 7 fiasco last year, therefore in a way , Samsung is not only competing against rival manufacturers with the S8 , but also with itself as it tries to set the past right with the latest iteration . Display and Design Samsung always had an "edge" when it comes to display technology and this year they have done it again as both models are now fitted with a curved display with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio which has enabled Samsung to squeeze in more display real estate onto the S8 and S8+ without increasing the phones overall footprint - this has also enabled Samsung to ditch their home button and the two capacitive leys in favor of software keys which can be customized to your liking . Samsung is said to launch the successor to its S7 (and even the Note 7) this year . The phone ,also known as the Galaxy S8 after launch is set to bring new technologies and a new design based on the success and experience of Samsung's "Edge" display technology . Rumored models  Some rumors speculate that Samsung is said to launch two models of the smartphone - a smaller Galaxy S8 and a Galaxy S8 Plus model (cough cough ....) The two models are still said to very much similar with the exception of the S8 plus which is rumored to pack a Dual camera set up which was hinted by Samsung's own teasers which show a 8 in the form of  two camera lenses (Samsung recently purchased Israeli based Core Photonics camera  technology company which makes dual sensor systems)  . As we predicted earlier , the battery onboard Samsung's former flagship Note 7 is now labeled as the prime cause of Samsung's Note 7 incidents where a few devices spontaneously exploded -leaving behind scorched furniture ,delayed flights and billions in losses for the Company .  The phone , launched last year was probably the best Note smartphone built to date as it featured an all new weather sealed body , mouthwatering specs and a new IRIS scanning system ,sadly things started to go wrong when some users reported the devices of spontaneously combusting and setting hotel rooms , cars and even delaying flights as the phone was declared a fire hazard by almost every airline service a cause now attributed to the batteries provided for Samsung by external parties working on contract to produce them for the Note 7  .
