OnePlus One to get Android Lollipop next month , comes in two flavors

OnePlus - a company that made headlines last year with its OnePlus One handset is now announcing plans to dish out Android 5.0 to their handsets . The update , which looks to be a bit late by flagship update standards is the result of "proprietary drivers, code, QA [and] certifications." . Originally ,OnePlus promised a 90 day update promise but things started to go south after Cyanogen - Oneplus'  main software provider , ditched Oneplus and sold off exclusive rights to Micromax in India ,and  as a result Indian OnePlus users will not receive direct updates as all update rights belong to the said Indian OEM . OnePlus - in a attempt to slowly get away from its Cyanogen alliance ,started to work on its custom "Oxygen OS" ROM which is said to be ready next month for users (who won't get cyanogenmod in India )and around the world , Cyanogen -  tied to a two year update contract during the OnePlus one's conception is also said to issue Cyanogenmod 12S (spe...

Microsoft invests in Cyanogen , plans a Google free Android

Android has come a long way from its humble start in 2008 , the platform , which was backed by Google was a instant hit among manufacturers and consumers alike , the opensource nature and the ability to transfer media without syncing made it the only choice in a world of closed source smartphones of the era ,the envy and fear of Android's dominance shook most rival manufacturers to their core , and as a result , almost all major Non Android OEM's had a go at firing their canons at Android -which only proved to be futile on the long run as Android has now passed the 81% marketshare mark , this rapid success can be attributed to Google's efforts to push the Android platform even further , but that doesn't mean that all Android's are Google - a significant amount -37% of the Android pie consists of "Forked"  or modified versions of Android , this can be either Color OS , Amazon's Fire Os or even Microsoft/Nokia's own Nokia X platform , these AOSP ba...

OnePlus to unveil Oxygen OS , replacement for Cyanogenmod

After much betrayal , OnePlus has finally decided to skip out on cyanogenmod alltogether with the introduction of its own AOSP based ROM called - Oxygen OS . Cyanogenmod - a popular 3rd party Android ROM was basically the cement of the small startup company and it was even declared as one of the phone's main features, but like most small companies that taste big money ,Cyanogen decided to spray sand on the eyes of OnePlus and eventually made deals with Micromax giving them official rights to use the operating system on their devices leaving OnePlus with their pants down  . As time went on OnePlus started to erase everything Cyanogenmod , newer units no longer contain Cyanogen logo but the operating system was still Cyanogenmod , to change things in this sour break up , OnePlus is set to unveil their own -Oxygen Os - a rom developed on android 5.0 which is said to bring purity just like the element its named after , details about Oxygen OS is still not given , but we expect the...

OnePlus may be working on a 5 inch "Mini" smartphone

OnePlus - a company that set the smartphone world on fire after the announcement of the OnePlus One is now rumored to be working on a smaller and a more "affordable" handset which is said to priced at the $250 range with specs that include a 64bit processor and Android in the form of Cyanogenmod . The phone , which appeared in a somewhat convincing leaked photo has a display of about 5" -which is now considered to be "midrange" by modern smartphone standards  and a Snapdragon 615 Soc and a 8mp rear module with flash . The rest of the specs of this rumored device is still not known ,but with OnePlus raising the bar with their "flagship killer" things in this  "OnePlus half" might be very interesting ,but then again there is always a possibility that this phone leaked in the picture(s) might be a well spec'ed Chinese clone so lets take these rumors with a grain of salt . OnePlus One to drop its invite system and settles for a pre-order system

OnePlus One is a great phone with one major flaw - availability . The phone , which brought in truckloads of loyal fans and hype caused quite a storm in the tech world when it came to getting/sending out  invites .The invite system , which was hated by almost all was one ,was of the main reasons why the phone lost its appeal so soon ,frustrated buyers left the forums and most of the time bought phones from rival companies (even Oppo) , some gave up on OnePlus all-together, but now , with 2014 almost coming to a end , OnePlus has finally decided to open the taps and let people order phones in the regular fashion . The new OnePlus Preorder system , unlike the unsuccessful invite method , uses a set timeframe which allows buyers to place their orders in a given time , the move , which allows customers to select their accessories and other material before - hand  , will receive  a small time -window to place their order on the OnePlus One , and if you are a early -bird ,...

CyanogenMod installer pulled out of Google Play Store , App will be available for download elsewhere

The official CyanogenMod installer was pulled out of the Google Play Store. The app was voluntarily removed after the Google Play Support team contacted CyanogenMod that its creation was violating the store’s terms. The app specifically violated the Google Play Store Terms of Service by encouraging users to void the warranty of their devices, despite being harmless in its nature. As you probably know already, void warranty is one of the biggest downsides of rooting an Android device. Launched a couple of weeks back, the official CyanogenMod installer, in conjunction with a desktop companion, allowed you to flash the company’s custom Android ROMs to compatible devices. According to CyanogenMod, the app has seen hundreds of thousands of installs for the two weeks of its availability. Thankfully, removal from the Google Play Store does not mark the end of the road for the CyanogenMod installer. The app is available to download directly from the CyanogenMod website and can be sideload...

Steve Kondik - founder of CyanogenMod leaves Samsung

Steve Kondik, the founder of CyanogenMod, needs no introduction . This man is a star in the Android community and a true Nexus warrior . 19 months ago, in August of 2011, he joined Samsung to change the world and make beautiful mobile babies together. Today, he's a free man once again, as he announced his departure from the company via a Google+ post on his Galaxy S4 impressions minutes ago:. " On the Galaxy S4 I got to spend some quality time with the S4 (final hardware)  before I left Samsung . I'm a huge a fan of the S3 and use one everyday, so I was quite pleased with the S4. Yeah, there is no refresh of the industrial design other than a few minor things such as the edging, but the device actually feels quite a bit more solid than the S3. Specwise, this device blows the competition out of the water. There are a number of unique features that have a lot of potential (assuming Samsung is opening up an API for them) such as the touchscreen which can register ...
