USB Stick pc's have been around for quite a while in the Android camp , but sticks running desktop class operating systems are almost non existent until now .Introducing the new Intel Compute Stick - this $150 USB PC stick runs Windows 8.1 (Desktop version) and it has a twin Linux version which costs $90 and features a bit lower spec parts inside . Both models feature  a Micro USB 2.0 port  and a full size USB 2.0 port along with Wifi b/g/n  , Bluetooth 4.0 and a male-HDMI port for fixing the unit to your HDMI capable TV or display . The Windows 8.1 version will have 2GB of RAM  and 32GB of storage while the Linux version will have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage . Yesterday at the ASUS IDF press conference CEO Jerry Shen announced the company’s first tablet to run on Intel’s Bay Trail platform. It is called the ASUS Transformer Book T100 and is an entry-level 10.1″ tablet running the Windows 8.1 operating system. The 10.1″ display is of the IPS variety and has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, which is rather mediocre for a display of such size . Nevertheless, the 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 and 2GB dual-channel memory. Measuring 26.4 x 17.0 x 1.04 cm, the ASUS Transformer Book T100 weighs only 550 grams. Adding the dock increases the thickness to 2.36 cm and adds another 550 grams to the weight. There are also a microUSB port for charging as well as a microHDMI output and a headphone/mic jack. Intel has shown off its new chips for tablets, smartphones, and LTE-enabled devices, with Silvermont, Bay Trail-T, and Merrifield all revealed at Computex 2013 today. Merrifield, due to show up in Intel-powered smartphones from early 2014, is the company’s next-gen smartphone platform, a 22nm Atom SoC that was, for today’s show, wrapped up in a new touchscreen reference design Intel was coy on specific details about the phone, and indeed about Merrifield, though did let slip a couple of elements the new Atom chip will bring. Unsurprisingly there’s talk of both more performance and more battery life; however, there’s also apparently an “integrated sensor hub” that will be used for “personalized services.” Intel hasn’t said exactly what those services might be – nor, indeed, what types of sensors will be included – but it does remind us of Motorola’s comments last week about the incoming Moto X, and how the company was looking to contextual understanding for its new range of phones...

ASUS has just unveiled a new tablet, and it marks the return of the MeMo Pad series. This one is a 10-inch, 9.5mm-thick slab, housing both a dual-core, 1.6GHz Intel processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean -- another Clover Trail+ powered tablet from the Taiwanese company. Perhaps just as notable is the inclusion of a 1,920 x 1,200 backlit 10-inch screen -- one that performed just as admirably as other ASUS tablets we've tested in the past. We're promised 10 hours of use from the 25Wh battery, with all the requisite Bluetooth (3.0), WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and GPS built in. There are also dual speakers but we're waiting to confirm if this means stereo sound. It'll arrive in two configurations: 16GB and 32GB. In Monaco earlier today, ZTE officially unveiled its ZTE Grand X2 In Intel-powered flagship smartphone, once again eschewing its stigma of peddling lower-end handsets by offering an all-around high end smartphone slated for release in Europe this autumn for an unspecified amount. There’s no word yet whether this handset will make its way to the US. Perhaps the ZTE Grand X2 In’s greatest claim to fame is the hardware found under its hood – a dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 2GHz processor, as well as 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM (storage expansion available via microSD up to 32GB). ZTE today announced plans to embed the new Intel Atom Z2580 processor into its future smartphones. ZTE has already released at least one smartphone, the Grand X IN, with Intel processors inside. Intel revealed the dual-core Z2580 chip earlier this year. It offers clock speeds up to 2.0GHz per core and uses Hyper-Threading to help with multitasking. Intel claims the Z2580 delivers twice the computing power and three times the graphics performance of its predecessor while drawing the same amount of power. ZTE's news today follows an announcement it made several weeks ago wherein it promised to deliver a "super phone" based on the NVIDIA Tegra 4 platform before the middle of the year. ZTE didn't share any details of the device other than to say it will also use NVIDIA's i500 LTE modem.
