Confirmed : Sony to retire the Xperia Z lineup

Sony  - once a dominant force in the mobile space played as the arch nemesis to Nokia back in its heyday ,but once the Sony Ericsson venture collapsed , Sony had difficulty in keeping up with the Jones as their random smartphones were either late in the spec war , or overpriced . With competition getting stiff , Sony could no longer waste money on making Random smartphones with outdated specs , and therefore Sony decided to launch a new flagship series called the Xperia Z . Xperia Z The Original Xperia Z was a first for Sony , it offered water resistance , a premium design with glass and metal and specs that rivaled other handset makers .Up to this point Sony phones were regarded as late for the party , but with the Xperia Z , the tables turned and Sony had a proper recipe in its hands . Xperia Z2 After the release of the Xperia Z and its spin offs (ZL ,ZR and Tablet Z) , Sony released the Xperia Z1 , this phone was launched in a time where "mini...

Sony announces Xperia Z3+ - The Xperia Z4 for the rest of us .

Sony announced the Xperia Z4 for japan just last month , although fans expected a bit more in the form of a new design , the company instead went for a different route and polished the existing Z3 design with minimal changes and and flapless ports and launched it only for Japan , but today , we have the the phone available for the rest of the global market in a strange naming scheme - The Xperia Z3+ Say hello to the Sony Xperia Z3+  , the phone , which is the technical successor to the Xperia Z3 brings a 64bit chip , and a 32GB option instead of the 16GB entry level specification offered earlier , The Z3+ naming scheme was probably adopted as the phone is just a refined version of their older generation model  .The display is kept in the same 1080p resolution and it is still 5.2" .But dont't let its design fool you into thinking that thus is some run  off .under the sleek 6.9mm thin IP  IPX5/X8 water and dust protected chassis lies  Sony's new 64bit hardwar...

Sony to launch Xperia Z4 as Z3+ ?

Sony recently announced a Snapdragon 810 powered Xperia Z4 for the Japanese market , the phone , which is almost a mirror image of the Xperia Z2 and Z3 was also said to go live in markets outside Japan , but apparently Sony , after a few possible high level business talks are possibly going to name the device as the Xperia Z3+ rather than the Z4  due to its incremental design updates over the older generation designs  . The Xperia Z3 - a phone praised for being one of the best Sony xperia devices yet -was launched last year with a almost staple 20.7 mp rear sensor , water resistance , 3GB ram a 5.2" 1080p display and a SD card slot  , but the new revision only improved on some minor details including the removal of the magnetic charger  and the removal of the side dust cover which is now substituted by a exposed microUSB port in order to achieve a even thinner design . The Z4(z3+)  also has a 5mp front camera - a improvement over the older generations but is a...

Sony Xperia Z4 (For Japan) - This is it

Sony's Xperia Z4 is probably one of the top smartphones expected for the first half of this year , the phone , which was due to be unveiled in February along side the Snapdragon 810 powered Xperia Tablet Z4 was delayed for a later launch due to unspecified reasons , but today , the phone is made official . Say hello to the Sony Xperia Z4 , the phone , which is the technical successor to the Xperia Z3 brings a 64bit chip , and a 32GB option instead of the 16GB entry level specification offered earlier , the phone also packs Android 5.0 lollipop out of the box . Design wise , the phone is a bit un-inspiring as it follows the standard Sony omnibalance design with some re used elements from the Xperia Z2 including the almost similar speaker placements .but unlike the previous Z2 and Z3 , the phone is thinner at 6.8mm and it offers IP68 water and dust protection like its predecessors , but the design does have a drawback as the battery capacity has dropped to 2930 mAh , a ma...

Xperia Z2 and Z3 to get Lollipop .....soon!

Sony has built up a strong reputation when it comes to flagship smartphones but the same can't be said about their update cycle ,Android 5.0 Lollipop , which has been out on most OEM smartphones since November of last year is finally set to drop into the Xperia Z2 and Z3 smartphones in about a months time . The update details come directly from Vodafone Australia , the graph shows the carrier versions of the two Xperia's and a Vodafone HTC One M8 which are listed to recieve Android 5.0 after they finish their testing .The Xperia Z2 and the Z3 share almost identical hardware so they are scheduled to get their testing this month , this means the Z2 and the Z3 will recieve Android 5.0 in March - which is expected as most carriers drop a heavy load of bloatware on their devices , Details about Non Vodafone Xperia Z2 and Z3's are not given , but we can assume that they are already set to recieve Android 5.0 before the carrier models (possibly end of this month -after the...

IFA 2014 - Sony Xperia Z3 is official

IFA is a big day for Sony ,the company , which is one of the top Android handset makers , released their new lineup Mid year flagship devices to succeed the ones launched in February at MWC . The new Xperia Z3 , the new Xperia Z3 Compact , the Xperia Z3 Tablet compact and , although its not a flagship - The Xperia E3 all share Sony's new design language and Android 4.4 Kitkat ,The Xperia Z3 , which is the flagship phone out of the bunch is the new successor to the 6 month old Xperia Z2 . The phone , like its predecessor shares some of the omnibalance dna , but the new design pattern means that the bottom bezels , which on earlier Xperia's was bare ,  now  holds a small cut for a extra stereo speaker . The side of the phone has got a smooth convex side that is now painted according to the  color you chose .The phone , unlike previous Xperia Z devices , features a new color pallet that has richer tones , and for the first time , the White model has a White front panel . T...

Sony Xperia Z3 or Z3 mini leaks out in a silicone case , looks a bit like deja-vu

Sony has a strategy of launching 2 flagship phones every year , the first device usually goes on sale during the first quarter while its replacement goes on sale a few months later , although the strategy of making the old device obsolete might be frustrating to many , the company still keeps its word and are now preparing to launch the Xperia Z3 at IFA 2014 this September . The phone , which will look like the Xperia's before it (Xperia Z , Z1 , Z2) will have the same waterproof chassis with flaps covering every port other than the microphone jack . The phone will have front facing speakers and it will carry Sony's new IPS display panel like the Xperia Z2 , the main camera is also rumored to be the same 20.7 MP sensor which was present from the Xperia Z1,the main difference however comes from the new hardware , and this unit is said to pack the Snapdragon 805 Soc , which is a slight improvement over the Snapdragon 801 chip sets we find in the top flagships at present . The p...

Sony D6653 Xperia Z3 may have a Snapdragon 801 Pro chipset

Sony has a habit of launching a new flagship phone every 6 months ,this results in creating mobs of "burned" customers who just got their hands on the former model and a backlog of unsold Xperia's piling up in the warehouse . Sadly even after many years , Sony still keeps this tradition and they are now rumored to be working on the Sony Xperia Z3 , which is supposed to be the   technical replacement to the Xperia Z2 launched a few months back . The Xperia Z3 is said to feature a Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC Pro chipset which is a slight improvement over the predecessor . Other specs ,including the display are said to be the same (1080p) , so we wonder as to why Sony is planning on replacing the bestselling Z2  .
