The new Nvidia NVLink is a integrated chip to chip communications technology that will eventually replace the PCIe standard by about 80GB per second compared to the 16GB on PCIe. The new Pascal system will also have stacked DRAM chips which are placed in dense modules with wide interfaces...

Nvidia anounced their latest and the most expensive graphics card ever - The GTX Titan Z , the Titan Z is the third graphics card to follow the GTX Titan series and it packs the same GK110 Kepler GPU as the GTX Titan Black launched a few months ago . The impressive Titan Z packs a whooping 5760 GK110 cuda cores compared to the Titan black's 2800 , The Titan Z doubles the memory to 12 Gb over the Titan Black and has two 384bit memory channels .The Titan Z scores around 8 Teraflops , but unlike the Titan black,the GK110 cores are clocked to around 700 mhz each , and this puts it well below the Titan Z's 980Mhz per core ,but according to Nvidia spokesman Bryan Del Rizzo the reason to have a slower clock speed per was to make a "card that is cool and quiet, rather than hot and loud." The Titan Black , launched last month was priced at $999 , so with the doubling of specs on the Titan Z , you would expect it to cost double as well right ? wrong ! The Titan Z costs...

Though trackpads and touchscreens are slowly replacing the industrious little device, we’ve all used a mouse at one point or another, and they can found in tens of thousands of offices and homes across the globe, having served as a vital bit of modern computing for decades. Last night, the device’s inventor, Doug Engelbart, passed away at the age of 88 in his sleep. The information came from Engelbart’s daughter, who reported his passing in an email to the Computer History Museum located in California, the same state where the inventor worked at a research institute on a variety of other technologies used in modern times, including early forms of word processors, video teleconferencing, and email. IBM has been producing some of the best performing supercomputers in the world for a number of years. In fact, back in 2008 and 2009 IBM developed and launched a supercomputer called Roadrunner. This supercomputer was the first to be able to operate at sustained performance in the petaflop range. The computer was installed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where it has been in use for the last five years. Yesterday, the laboratory officially decommissioned Roadrunner. The supercomputer has 12,960 IBM PowerXCell 8i processors and 6480 AMD Opteron dual-core processors. Those processors shared 114 TB of memory and about 1.09 million TB of storage. The supercomputer isn’t being completely dismantled, researchers will continue to utilize the machine and its impressive power for various experiments.
