ASUS Chromebook Detachable CM3

Asus has unveiled a new Chromebook which as the title suggests is detachable and affordable at the same time. The new ASUS Chromebook Detachable CM3 - brings a 10.5" 1920x1200 resolution IPS screen as well as stylus support and a detachable keyboard with 1.5mm key travel. Powered by a Mediatek 8183 Soc, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the tablet sits in the lower spec Chromebook category, but considering that Chromebooks generally are designed for casual browsing and light word processing, the 12 hour battery life and the compelling price certainly makes up for the lower end hardware. Other specs include a 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, 100GB Google Drive storage with an annual subscription to Google One , a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB C port for charging (45W fast charging). Pricing for the CM3 is $369.99 and is sold through Amazon and Asus' website.   Source - Androidheadlines

HP Chromebook 11

This week the folks at HP have had a couple of leaks of a device that’s obviously exciting enough to chat about in secret – now made official in the HP Chromebook11. This device takes on Chrome OS in a colorful manner, coating the outside and bottom half of the inside in a shiny white plastic and the accents in black or one of several brightly colored tones: blue, green, red/pink, or yellow. This Chromebook takes on the estimated street price of $279.99 USD, too, so it’s certainly ready to do battle with the rest of the Chromebook universe right out the gate. HP goes so far as to suggest that their Chromebook11 is “inspired by the Pixel’s iconic design” – that’s the Chromebook Pixel, if you did not know. This beast is the first Chromebook with an IPS LCD display as well, sporting 1366 x 768 pixels across it. To power this little beast you’ll find a Samsung Exynos 5250 SoC with Intel HD Graphics and 2GB DDR3L RAM to back it up. This machine works with what HP calls an “island-style ...

AMD to develop their own microprocessors for Android and Chrome OS devices

Be prepared to see mobile devices and laptops running Android and Chrome OS using AMD chips under the hood. It’s reported that the chip maker is open to designing and developing chips that are catered to support Android and Chrome OS. AMD will still be committed to Windows machines, but they hope to expand more into mobile territory in the future. Talking with PC World, AMD’s senior vice president and general manager of global business units, Lisa Su, says that the company is expanding its operating system options as they designs chips based on the x86 and ARM architectures, both of which are capable of supporting different kinds of operating systems. However, it seems AMD wants to only focus on special projects with partners when developing these kinds of chips, rather than mass produce them for any manufacturer to use at any time. Of course, AMD is sticking their own chips inside Microsoft’s and Sony’s respective gaming console, but the company has largely only been focused on ...

Only 500,000 chromebooks sold?

According to unnamed sources speaking with the Digitimes, Google’s Chromebook sales have reportedly been worse than Surface sales coming in at 500,000 units, which gives Chrome OS a little less than a grueling 1% share of the notebook market. The unnamed source said that Chromebooks could struggle gaining any ground against Windows-based notebooks for at least two years because Google “will still need some time to integrate” Chrome and Android in order to broaden the Chromebooks’ appeal for customers.
