With more eyes than a spider , the Light camera company plans to revolutionize photography by introducing bridge camera that sits between a DSLR and a smartphone . the product , named the Light L16 , has 16 -13MP sensors can deliver a composite image of 52MP!(And record 4k - click here to read more about this on their website) . The front façade, which basically captures and reflects light on all 16 units which are fitted with Five 28mm modules at f/2.0 , Five 70mm modules at f/2.0 and Six 150mm modules at f/2.4 are arranged in a maze like pattern with reflective mirrors which allows the stacking of optics without the use of a lens barrel or extra thickness .
Composing a shot on the L16 is as simple as using a smartphone , tap to focus on the 5" Full HD display and voila , but the L16 is built for much greater feats , and so the manual mode (a proper shutter button is included as well) will allow users to select between jpeg and RAW , ISO (100-3200) , 15 s to 1/8000 (SS) and dual tone LED flash for color mixing .
Video goodies on the camera may not be as impressive as the photographic aspect , but it is capable of shooting UHD 4k in either 28mm ,70mm and 150mm lenses .
Running on Android and a powerful 64bit Snapdragon 820 system on a chip + a dedicated image processing engine , the camera is certainly capable of pulling off high res composite photos and even video in different focal lengths , but so far the biggest hurdle for this camera was availability as it has been delayed on a few occasions (since its announcement in late 2015) but now ,the L16 finally available for shipping.
With its price adjusted to the final retail price of $1699 . The Light L16 promises to be a great addition(and a pricy one !) to those who want to shoot on a novel platform , the design , which mimics a smartphone will also be ideal for those who want to take high quality photos in areas where larger cameras are banned and a single phone sensor wont suffice . Interested ? here are some pictures captured by the L16.
