Vision Research announces Phantom VEO 4KPL and VEO 4K 590L/S super slow motion cameras

Vision research has unveiled two 4K capable super-slow motion cameras for their VEO series of Gimbal/smaller rig cameras . The series , which sits beside the larger Flex series , brings RAW recording with 1000fps for the VEO 4K PL series and 500 fps for the VEO 4K-560L/S versions

Phantom VEO 4K

VEO4K-L models are designed for software-based operation with two programmable I/O ports and simplified connections.

VEO4K-S models include additional I/O ports, on-camera controls, compatibility with CFast recording media and a secondary battery input.

VEO4K-PL models include everything in the S-model, with the addition of an optical low pass filter, standard PL-mount and a black cinema-style housing.

WAYNE, NJ, September 5, 2017 – Vision Research, a leading manufacturer of digital high-speed imaging systems, today introduces the Phantom® VEO4K camera family, combining the imaging power of the Flex4K-GS with the convenient form factor of the VEO. Designed for demanding scientific research, defense and media applications, it will capture up to 1,000 frames per second (fps) at 4K and higher at reduced resolutions.

VEO4K cameras employ a custom 9.4-megapixel, 12-bit CMOS sensor with 6.75 micron pixels, producing images of the highest quality and pixel resolution – Great for high-magnification and applications involving dynamic movement across large spaces. The family consists of three models, including the Phantom VEO4K-PL camera for media production, as well as two body styles, allowing users to select the camera that best meets their needs.

Machined from solid aluminum with isolated electronics, Phantom VEO cameras are known for their durability and ability to perform in harsh environments. VEO4K cameras are available with either 36 GB or 72 GB of RAM and include SDI and HDMI video outputs. S-models include a secondary battery input and CFast 2.0 compatibility which enables remote, untethered recording.

iPad (2022) and iPad Pro with M2 announced

Apple has announced their latest iteration of the iPad (entry level model) and the iPad Pro lineup with the new M2 processor. The event, held on the 18th of October as a recorded session displayed the key features of the iPads with the most significant being the base model iPad which has now received an upgrade. iPad 2022 This model of the base model iPad ditches the almost 12 year old home button and display layout and goes for a cleaner display only design found on the iPad Air . The chassis, which now comes with flatter sides and a TouchID fingerprint sensor on the top has also abandoned the lightning port in favor of USB C and it also comes with a set of pogo style connectors for accessories including a keyboard with trackpad. Internally, the iPad comes either as a Wifi only (Wifi6) and a 5G cellular model and is offered with 64 or 256GB of storage. Nikon 850 gets leaked ......does the top feature a hybrid EVF?

Obtained by NikonRumors , these two leaked press images give us the first look into what the Nikon D850 actually looks like . TL:DR - Nikon D850 has a larger penta-prism buldge on top , and it no longer features a pop up flash . The bulge will feature connectivity options (Wifi ? Bluetooth and NFC? GPS?) rather than a hybrid EVF(as rumored by many) as locking up the mirror for on sensor detection is still in its infancy ) . Nikon will implement this technology in the future once the tech improves and costs drop down , but by that time they will just feature a Mirrorless lineup as well. Although the new D850 shares the same DNA as its predecessor ,The first leaked images show us that the buttons are now illuminated , this is great for all those "Astrographers" who struggle with finding which is which on the 810 series as backlighting was left out .
