Asus Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 flip unveiled.



Asus has announced their latest 5G capable flagship smartphones - the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 flip.

As the name suggests, the Zenfone 8 flip's main highlight is its flip hinge which houses the camera array - a neat feature and a departure from the typical candy bar design, offers users the ability to use the rear sensors as their primary camera as the front display can then remain unobstructed without the unsightly notch or punch hole in the middle ruining your experience. The cameras feature a 64Mp main camera, a 12MP ultra wide and 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom.The phone supports 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K upto 120fps.

The display on the Zenfone 8 flip is a 6.67" 2400x1080 AMOLED display and has a 90hz refresh rate The unit has a 2.84Ghz Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage with expansion via microSD. The phone also features 5000mAh battery and it runs on Android 11 with Zen U.I 8.0 and retails for $965.

The Zenfone 8 features a no-frills design and a typical candy bar design and a plastic-fantastic build, like the Zenfone flip, the internals are similar with a Snapdragon 888 Soc and an 8GB ram and storage options of 128/256GB , but it also features a model budget edition with 6GB ram and 128GB storage and a whooping 16GB Ram option with 256GB storage, but it ditches the MicroSD slot. The other specs include a similar 64MP and 12MP camera array (minus the 8MP telephoto) and has a 12MP front facing camera. The display sits at a smallish 5.9" with 2400x1080p resolution and is also a Super AMOLED like the 8 flip.

Other specs include Android 11 with Zen UI 8.0, a 4000 mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack.The Zenfone retails for a modest $725.
