Leitz Phone 1


Leica has unveiled their Japan exclusive Leitz Phone 1 - a phone based on the Sharp Aquos R6. The phone , equipped with the monstrous 1" Sensor  from the Sharp model features Leica enhancements in its optics and interface and thus everything from its finish to packaging is more up-market than its commercial cousin.

At the heart of the phone lies a Snapdragon 888 processor and 12GB or RAM plus 256GB storage.The front, which contains a large 6.67" 2730x1260 pixel IGZO OLED display with 240Hz refresh rate also houses a punchhole front camera sensor of  12.6MP. 


The biggest feature of this Leitz Phone 1 is it's 1" 20MP sensor - the sensor is technically the largest sensor packed into a smartphone (The title goes to its cousin the R6 as well) and this is complemented by a single Rear ToF sensor for autofocus. The rear camera module also features a rear lens cap - a first for a modern smartphone.

The rest of the specifications are similar to the R6 with a 5000 mAh battery, MicroSD expansion upto 1TB and Android 11 (mostly stock) with Leica's own interface additions. 

Pricing for the handset is said to be $1700 (JPY 187,920) but sadly is said to be "JDM-Spec" with it being sold through Softbank starting from the 18th)

Nikon 850 gets leaked ......does the top feature a hybrid EVF?

Obtained by NikonRumors , these two leaked press images give us the first look into what the Nikon D850 actually looks like . TL:DR - Nikon D850 has a larger penta-prism buldge on top , and it no longer features a pop up flash . The bulge will feature connectivity options (Wifi ? Bluetooth and NFC? GPS?) rather than a hybrid EVF(as rumored by many) as locking up the mirror for on sensor detection is still in its infancy ) . Nikon will implement this technology in the future once the tech improves and costs drop down  , but by that time they will just feature a Mirrorless lineup as well. Although the new D850 shares the same DNA as its predecessor ,The first leaked images show us that the buttons are now illuminated , this is great for all those "Astrographers" who struggle with finding which is which on the 810 series as backlighting was left out .
